Charging exhaustive discharge batteries

In this operating mode, you can charge:
very cold batteries
12 V batteries that have an open-circuit voltage be-
tween 1 V and 8 V
24 V batteries that have an open-circuit voltage
between 2 V and 16 V, in other words exhaustive
discharge batteries
!
In each case only one exhaustive discharge battery
may be charged. Switch off all consumers in the ve-
hicle when charging exhaustive discharge batteries.
1.
Switch the battery charger off (Fig. 1, Pos. 9).
2.
Unscrew the cell plugs on standard batteries before
starting the charging process.
3.
Connect the crocodile clip-on terminals to the
proper battery terminals (Fig. 1, Pos. 1). The red-
colored clip goes to the positive terminal (+) and the
black one to the negative terminal (–).
4.
Set the two-way switch for „cold and hot bat-
teries" to the correct position (Fig. 2, Pos. 6). Note
that only the battery temperature is to be evaluated.
5.
Turn the potentiometer for setting the battery
charging current (Fig. 2, Pos. 8) to the left-hand
maximum limit (lowest charging current).
6.
Set the two-way switch (Fig. 2, Pos. 5) to the
specified battery nominal voltage for the battery to
be charged.
7.
Switch the battery charger on. After this the red
LED must light continuously (Fig. 2, Pos. 2) and the
yellow LED flash slowly (Fig. 2, Pos. 4).
The battery is not yet being charged.
i
As long as the battery is in the under-voltage
range, the yellow LED will flash. The control for
limiting the battery charging current does not
have any function when the yellow LED flashes.
!
Before pressing the battery under-voltage button
check that the switch for selecting the battery nomi-
nal voltage has been set to the correct position
(12 V / 24 V).
8.
Press the battery under-voltage button (Fig. 2,
Pos. 7). The yellow LED now flashes faster and
the battery is being charged. Only after the upper
limit of the battery under-voltage range has been
exceeded (yellow LED lights continuously) does the
battery charging current come into effect through
the potentiometer.

9.
Use the potentiometer to then set the battery char-
ging current to the required value.
!
When setting the battery charging current make sure
that the manufacturer's specifications are adhered to.
10.
The battery is fully charged, when the green LED
lights and when the battery charging current
display indicates that only a small charging current
is being registered. Switch off the battery charger
once the charging process is over.
11.
Disconnect the crocodile clips from the battery
(remove the black negative one first).
