ters without any mechanical system that blocks
movement at the Up and Down travel limits (for exam-
ple: On shutters, the "plugs" and "anti-intrusion springs";
on awnings, the enclosure housing the rolled awning).
01. Press and hold the Up (or Down) key to move the
shutter to mid-travel.
02. Press and hold the Down key to move the shutter to
the required limit position then release the key.
03. Press and hold the Up and Down keys simultane-
ously for at least 3 seconds and release after the
motor has executed a brief up movement.
04. Press and hold the Up key to move the shutter to
the required limit position then release the key.
05. Press and hold the Up and Down keys simultane-
ously for at least 3 seconds and release after the
motor has executed a brief down movement.
06. At this point activate a Down manoeuvre immediate-
ly after an Up manoeuvre to enable the control unit
to memorise the two limit switch positions. CAU-
TION! - Do not interrupt these two manoeuvres
and do not disconnect the power supply from
the automation during movement.
5.2.3 - Limit position programming in Semi-auto-
matic mode
CAUTION! – This procedure is only suitable for shut-
ters with two different limit positions: i.e. with a
mechanical system that blocks movement at one
travel limit (Up or Down) and the other that has no
type of limiter fitted.
To program the limit position fitted with a mechanical
system:
01. Press and hold the Up (or Down) key to move the
shutter to mid-travel.
02. Press and hold the key (Up or Down) until the shut-
ter stops on impact with the limit position ("0" or "1")
then release the key.
To program the limit position without a mechanical
system:
01. Press and hold the Up (or Down) key to move the
shutter to mid-way.
02. Press and hold the key (Up or Down) to move the
shutter to the required limit position then release the
key.
03. Press and hold the Up and Down keys simultane-
ously for at least 3 seconds and release after the
motor has executed a brief movement in the oppo-
site direction.
04. At this point activate an Up or Down manoeuvre
(depending on the position of the shutter) and im -
mediately afterwards a manoeuvre in the opposite
direction to enable the control unit to memorise the
two limit positions. CAUTION! - Do not interrupt
these two manoeuvres and do not disconnect
the power supply from the automation during
movement.
5.3 - TOTAL MEMORY DELETION
CAUTION! – This procedure deletes all data from the
control unit memory, including positions "0" and "1".
Note – If positions "0" and "1" are deleted, the main switch
must be pressed continuously (hold-to-run mode) for the
entire time required to complete the manoeuvre.
01. Press and hold the Up and Down keys simultane-
ously for at least 3 seconds and after the motor has
executed a brief movement release one key only.
02. Within 3 seconds after the motor has executed the
movement, press the previously released key three
times.
03. Then release the other key.
WARNINGS REGARDING DAILY USE
6
OF THE AUTOMATION
6.1 - "Obstacle detection" function
To-Max A is equipped with a safety system named "Ob -
stacle detection" which is activated when shutter travel,
either Up or Down is blocked inadvertently by an obstacle
(object, person etc.) or excessive friction (formation of ice,
expansion of materials etc.). In these situations, the con-
trol unit stops the manoeuvre immediately and activates a
brief inversion of movement.
The system is based on constant control of the torque
supplied by the motor (power) during a manoeuvre. This
control enables prompt detection of sudden increase in
power (in the Up manoeuvre) or decrease in power (in the
Down manoeuvre) when shutter movement is obstructed.
The parameters of the threshold that establish the system
sensitivity are dynamic and are automatically updated in
the control unit memory each time the shutter touches an
obstacle or other element that prevents normal move-
ment.
Therefore in daily use of the automation, perform the fol-
lowing manoeuvres immediately after activation of the
"Obstacle detection" function:
CAUTION! – Observance of this warning enables the
"Obstacle detection" function to memorise only pa -
rameters generated by "real" objects and to ignore
small errors or occasional friction. This enables effi-
cient self-calibration and limits intervention to effec-
tively hazardous situations.
• If interruption of the manoeuvre is due to the pres-
ence of a solid and identifiable object: Remove the
obstacle and activate another manoeuvre in the opposite
direction to that previous command.
• If interruption of the manoeuvre is not caused by an
apparent object: Repeat the same manoeuvre as the
previous command.
