MAINTENANCE
SAFETY VALVE
The safety valve sometimes releases a little water after
hot water has been used. This discharge is caused by
the expansion of cold water entering the water heater,
resulting in a pressure increase, whereby the safety
valve opens.
The safety valve must be inspected regularly (about four
times a year) to prevent blockages.
Perform the checks as follows:
1. Open the valve by turning the knob anti-clockwise
carefully.
2. Check that water flows through the valve.
Close the valve by releasing it. If it does not close

automatically when released, turn it anti-clockwise
slightly.
If this does not happen, the safety valve is defective
and must be replaced.
EMPTYING
Switch off the power to the water heater by setting
1.
the switch (SF1) to "0".
2. Close the shut-off valve (QM35) (turn clockwise).
3. Open the mixing valve (FQ1) fully (turn anticlock-
wise).
Open the safety valve (FL1) (turn slowly anticlock-

wise so that it remains in the raised position).
NOTE
Draining is through the safety valve over-
flow pipe. Beware of any water splashes.
There is a risk of scalding.
Open a hot water tap to let air into the system. If

this is not sufficient, loosen a pipe coupling marked
HW on the mixer valve.
To drain Compact Sol faster: Slacken off the vacuum
valve (FL6) a few turns. A small amount of water may
run out at the valve.

DEALING WITH MALFUNCTIONS
NOTE
Electrical installation and service must be car-
ried out under the supervision of a qualified
electrician, and in accordance with applicable
electrical safety regulations.
If the water fails to heat up, check that the fuses in the
electrical distribution unit are intact. If none of the fuses
have blown, the problem may be that the temperature
limiter has tripped as a result of a fault in the water
heater. Once the fault has been remedied, the temper-
ature limiter can be reset.
Check the external solar panel.
SERVICE
For service, contact the installer. Serial number (PF3)
(14 digits) and installation date should always be stated.
Only replacement parts supplied by NIBE may be used.
