3.5 Inserting the batteries
Insert the AAA" batteries in the open
battery compartment. Only use
batteries of the type AAA Ni−MH
1.2 V 600 mAh. Pay attention to
correct polarity. Close the battery
compartment cover.
3.6 Charging the batteries
Before the handset is used for the first time, insert it in the base station
for at least 14 hours. The handset warms up during the charging
process. This is normal and does not represent a risk. Do not charge the
handset with charging units from other manufacturers. Failure to charge
the batteries properly can lead to telephone malfunction. The current
battery charge status is indicated in the display:

3.7 Tone or Pulse dialling mode
The telephone can be connected to both analogue connections (pulse
dialling) and digital connections (tone dialling/DTMF). The equipment is
set to TONE dialling (DTMF) at the factory. If the telephone does not
work on your telephone connection, refer to Chapter 8.1 to learn how to
switch the telephone to pulse dialling.
3.8 Setting the time
Chapter 8.1 explains how to set the time on the handset when starting it
up for the first time.
