Basic safety instructions
2.1
Requirements for personnel
Personnel involved in installation, commissioning, diagnostics and maintenance must meet
the following requirements:
• Trained, qualified specialists must have a relevant qualification for this specific function and
task
• Are authorized by the plant owner/operator
• Are familiar with federal/national regulations
• Before starting work, read and understand the instructions in the manual and
supplementary documentation as well as the certificates (depending on the application)
• Follow instructions and comply with basic conditions
Operating personnel must meet the following requirements:
• Be instructed and authorized by the plant operator with regard to the requirements of the
task
• Follow the instructions in this manual
2.2
Designated use
The measuring device described in this manual may be used only as a point level switch for
liquids and foams. Incorrect use may pose a hazard. To ensure that the measuring device
remains in perfect condition during the operating time:
• Measuring devices must be used only for media to which the process-wetted materials have
an adequate level of resistance.
• The relevant limit values must not be violated, see TI01028F/00/EN.
2.2.1
Incorrect use
The manufacturer is not liable for damage caused by improper or non-designated use.
Residual risks
Due to heat transfer from the process, the temperature of the electronics housing and the
assemblies contained therein may rise to 80 °C (176 °F) during operation.
Danger of burns from contact with surfaces!

For elevated fluid temperature, ensure protection against contact to prevent burns.
2.3
Operational safety
Risk of injury!

Operate the device in proper technical condition and fail-safe condition only.

The operator is responsible for interference-free operation of the device.
2.4
Product safety
This measuring device is designed in accordance with good engineering practice to meet state-
of-the-art safety requirements, has been tested, and left the factory in a condition in which it
