Inserting batteries / changing batteries
• Open the battery compartment located at the bottom, by first unfolding the support
(18) and then remove the battery cover.
• Insert a battery type AAA/Micro into the battery compartment with the correct po-
larity (note positive/+ and negative/-).
• Put the battery compartment cover back on again.
• The battery must be replaced, if the display contrast fades or the device cannot be
switched on any longer.
Installation/mounting
• The barbecue/kitchen thermometer can be positioned by unfolding the foot (18) on
the bottom. Ensure that it does not fall which will damage it.
• By means of two magnetic holders (15 + 16) you can attach the barbecue/kitchen
thermometer to suitable surfaces. Do not slide the device back and forth, as this will
leave scratch marks on the metal surface!
When laying out the cable, ensure that it is not damaged by sharp edges.
Protect the barbecue/kitchen thermometer from excessive heat. Only sen-
sor and cable are heat-protected, but not the barbecue/kitchen thermom-
eter!
When using the product, keep in mind that the temperature sensor and the
cable are very hot. Therefore, always use a heat-resistant glove, when you
pull out the temperature sensor or need to place it differently. There is a risk
of burns!
Strong electromagnetic fields (e.g., induction cookers) may interfere with
the operation of the product. If this is the case (e.g., random characters on
the display, device is not responding to keystroke or similar), remove the
batteries and reinsert them after a few seconds. Then place the product in a
different the location.

Operation

a) Installing the temperature sensor
Connect the supplied temperature sensor to the socket (4).
b) Use the magnetic holder for the temperature sensor (for storage)
The temperature sensor can be inserted into the lateral holder (1). The temperature
sensor is attached to the clip (14) on the barbecue/kitchen thermometer.
Allow the sensor to cool first; then clean it carefully. Only after that insert the
temperature sensor into the magnetic holder.
c) Switching on/off

g) Take the measurement via the temperature sensor
• Insert the tip of the temperature probe into the material so that it is at least about
2.5 cm deep inside the material being measured. Make sure when you measure the
temperature of meat that you do not stick the tip into fat or near a bone.
The tip (20) of the temperature sensor is used to measure the temperature
inside the foodstuff.
The slightly thicker portion (19) of the temperature sensor includes a sensor
for the oven temperature. This must be free and must not be inserted into the
foodstuff.
The temperature sensor and the cable heat up considerably when the food
is cooked. Therefore, always use a heat-resistant glove, when you pull out
the temperature sensor or need to place it differently. There is a risk of
burns!
Use the temperature probe is not in a microwave and not in an open fire.
• If the temperature sensor is inserted into an oven, so close the door of the oven
carefully, so that the cable is not damaged.
Attention!
Only the temperature sensor and cable are heat resistant. The barbecue/
kitchen thermometer must never be placed in the oven. There is risk of fire
and explosion; danger to life from poisonous vapours!
• Wait until the temperature display has stabilized and no longer (or only slightly)
changed.
The top line of the display shows the oven temperature ("oven"), the bottom line of
the temperature in the food ("FOOD").
• The display shows "LO" when the temperature at the sensor is <0 °C or if the sensor
is not connected. The display shows "HI" if the temperature at the sensor >+300 °C.
h) Temperature limit for alarm (Foodstuff)
Set limit
The button "FOOD °T" (6) for the temperature limit (12) can be set (which is in the food)
for the sensor in the tip (20) of the temperature sensor.
For a quick adjustment, keep the corresponding button pressed for a longer time.
