bol of the respective temperature sensor will be shown; "K" for ty-
pe K (above the minus symbol) or "J" for type J (below the minus
symbol). This setting will also be kept even when the digital ther-
mometer is switched off.
C3 Jack assignment
a) Measuring inputs
The test jacks T1 and T2 are the so-called unipolar (+ and -) female
contacts of the measuring device. If you wish to carry out the mea-
surements of temperature in accordance with the sensor specifica-
tions. You have to connect the temperature sensors K or J to these
jacks. Please keep in mind that the blade contacts of the connec-
tors differ in width.
Do not use force to try to plug the connectors into
the wrong jacks (+ and - exchanged). The jacks
would be destroyed irretrievably and would have to
be renewed.
b) Serial interface RS-232
The jack "OUTPUT" is the serial interface RS-232 with 3.5 mm-ste-
reo jack format. The assignment is defined as follows(connector
plan):
Located at the rear of the connector is the ground = GND (=refe-
rence potential)
In the middle of the connector is the contact RX = 5-V high-input
(=data input)
Located at the front is the contact TX = 5-V high-output (=data
output)
To enable communication between thermometer and an IBM-com-
patible PC, you will first have to create the preconditions:

Utilisez constamment, pour vos prises de mesure, seulement des
capteurs de température appropriés (dans le cas présent type K).
Avant chaque branchement, faites attention à l'état de la fiche de
contact ou du bout du capteur ("perle") ainsi qu'à un isolement
intact.
Faites constamment attention à ce que seulement
le capteur de température soit mis en contact avec
le milieu à mesurer. Faites impérativement attention
aux précautions d'emploi et aux données techni-
ques relatives à la température de fonctionnement.
Ne dépassez jamais les grandeurs d'entrée maxi-
males.
C Mise en service
C1 Réglage de base
On éteint ou on allume l'appareil de mesure grâce à la touche co-
lorée "I". On peut également éteindre l'appareil grâce à la fonction
Auto-Power-Off. Auto-Power-Off signifie que l'appareil peut se
mettre automatiquement en mode de repos "Sleep-Mode" (ou
"Stand-by"). L'appareil s'éteint au bout de 30 minutes si
aucune des touches n'a été actionnée
la fonction Auto-Power-Off n'a été préalablement éteinte.
