g) Grinding
Attention!
Grinding must only be performed if you are wearing suitable protective equipment: You need goggles,
safety gloves, suitable work clothing/shoes and hearing protection.
Use a suitable dust mask to avoid inhaling grinding dust.
Always observe the safety information!
• Plug the mains plug of the grinder into an easily accessible, proper mains socket. Place the mains cable so that it
does not impair your work. Protect the mains cable from sharp edges. Ensure that the mains cable does not get
close to the grinding wheel.
• Start the grinder by pushing the button „I". Wait for a few seconds until the grinding wheel has reached its full speed.
• Pull the hand lever (2) for the chain brake to the grip (3) and hold the hand lever (2) in this position (e.g. like the hand
brake of a bicycle).
• Swivel the grinding head with the grinding wheel slowly down via the grip (3). Do not make any quick or jerky move-
ments.
Check the point of the cutting link where the grinding wheel touches it.
The grinding wheel must only grind off a very small part of the cutting link, since the saw chain can otherwise be
re-ground a few times.
• Swivel the grinding head back up.
• Switch off the sharpener by pushing the button „0". Wait until the grinding wheel has stopped completely.
Mark the first ground cutting link e.g. with a piece of chalk. This way, you will know when the first pass of
every other cutting link has been completed.
• Lift up the chain stopper (11) and turn the saw chain with the rotating wheel (13) or (17) to the second-to-next cutting
link.
• Fold the chain stopper down again and observe if it stops the cutting link correctly.
• Grind every second cutting link in the way described.
• After grinding all cutting links of the first side, loosen the chain discs (16) with the fastening wheel (15). Turn the
chain disc to the same degree number as the other side of the angle setting and fasten the fastening wheel again.
Now grind the cutting links of the second side.
