c) Setting grinding angle
• Loosen the fastening wheel (15) for the chain disc (16) and adjust the grinding angle depending on the saw chain.
Observe the marks of the angle scale (14).
Then fasten the chain disc (16) back to the fastening wheel (15).
d) Setting chain stopper
• Set the chain stopper (11). For this, loosen the fastening wheel (10) and twist the setting screw (9).
• Pull the saw chain to the left against the chain stopper until it stops a cutting link.
• Check if the cutting angle of the cutting link matches the set grinding angle. If required, adjust the chain disc again;
see above.
• Swivel the grinding head down and check if the grinding disc slightly touches the chain link to be ground.
• If required, adjust the chain stopper (11) by twisting the setting screw (9). Fasten the chain stopper and the setting
screw by turning in the fastening wheel (10).
You may need to adjust the chain stopper a bit after the first or second grinding process to prevent too much
of the cutting teeth of the saw chain being ground off.
e) Setting grinding depth
• Now set the grinding depth. For this, loosen the fastening wheel (8) and twist the setting screw (7). The grinding
depth must be set so that the complete blade of the respective cutting link is ground. The grinding wheel must not
be turned down to the point where it damages the saw chain, though.
• Fasten the fastening wheel (8) again.
f) Performing check before grinding
Before connecting the sharpener to the mains voltage and switching it on, check the following items.
• Is the holder of the hand lever screwed on in the right position to hold the hand lever (2) together with the grip?
• Does the chain brake (19) hold the saw chain when the hand lever (2) is actuated?
• Is the grinding angle for the saw chain used set via the chain disc (16)?
• Is the chain stopper (11) set correctly and is it aligned with the cutting link?
• Did you set the depth stop correctly?
• Swivel the grinding head slowly down with the grinding wheel via the grip (3); while doing so, pull the hand lever (2)
for the chain brake towards the grip (3) and hold the hand lever (2) while doing so.
Observe the position of the grinding wheel towards the blade in the cutting link. Does the position match?
• If everything is OK, swivel the grinding wheel up again. You can now start grinding.
