d) Additional safety notes on the grinding disc

• Never use a damaged, bent, broken or worn grinding disc.
You can find cracks that are invisible to the human eye if you suspend the grinding disc from a cord, e.g.
via the opening in the middle, and then carefully hit it with a non-metal object (e.g. the grip of a screw-
driver). A metallic sound suggests a proper grinding disc; a dull sound suggests a broken grinding disc or
a crack.
• Use only a suitable grinding disc (see chapter "Technical data"). Never install an unsuitable grinding disc;
do not perform any changes to sharpeners or the grinding disc.
When replacing the grinding disc, ensure that the new grinding disc is suitable for the rotational speed.
• Never operate the sharpener without grinding disc; never operate the sharpener without the protective
cover above the grinding disc.
Always observe that the grinding disc is correctly attached in the sharpener.
• Always let the grinding disc reach the full rotational speed before starting to grind.
• Never reach into the turning grinding disc when working with the sharpener.
• No person must be present radial to the turning grinding disc, since abrasion from the saw chain and very
fine particles from the grinding disc will be ejected. This may cause injury or eye damage, etc.!
• When the sharpener or grinding disc vibrates or the sharpener wobbles, switch off the sharpener and
wait until the grinding disc has stopped completely. Then check the attachment of the grinding disc in the
grinder or the attachment of the grinder as such.
• Never stop the grinding disc with your hands, other body parts or tools. Danger of injury! To stop the
grinding disc, first switch off the sharpener; then wait until the grinding disc has stopped on its own.
• The sharpener or the grinding disc must only be used to sharpen saw chains such as those used e.g. in
the chain saw. Never use the sharpener for any other purposes.
