7. CONNECTIONS

All connections have to be made or changed only if the amplifier is switched off!
A good cable run improves the sound quality remarkably. Input cables should be short and direct, since high
frequencies will be mostly be absorbed if the cables are unnecessarily long. Besides that a longer cable may
lead to humming and noise trouble. If long cable runs are unavoidable, you should use balanced cables.
In order to obtain highest sound quality, only use high-quality cables for connecting the devices. Make sure
that the cables are properly fixed.
7.1 Line sources
Connect the stereo audio sources to the corresponding inputs of channels CH 2 to CH 6 (red = right channel,
white = left channel).
You can connect up to three record players to the EM-760A using the PHONO/LINE sockets. Use
turntables equipped with MM pickup cartridge. You can only control the record player signal after switching
the PHONO/AUX switches to PHONO. The signal is then controlled via the faders of channel CH-2, CH-3 or
CH-4.
Connect your tape deck, tuner, CD/MP3-player or all other line signals to the LINE sockets on the rear panel.
You can only control the line signals after switching the PHONO/AUX switches to LINE. Now the signal is
controlled via the respective faders on the front panel.
7.2 Microphones
The EM-760A features six microphone channel. The connectors (6.3 mm jacks) are located on the rear
panel. You can adjust the microphone level via corresponding GAIN control. Make sure that the LINE/MIC-
switch is set to MIC.
Additionally, the EM-760A features another DJ MIC channel on the front panel. The DJ MIC can be
connected via a combined XLR/6.3 mm jack which allows connection of XLR plugs or 6.3 mm plugs
alternatively. With the TALKOVER switch, you can attenuate the overall signal of the other signal sources
without adjusting the microphone level.
7.3 Recordings
For recordings, connect your recording device to the REC OUT sockets. The REC OUT level will not be
influenced by the master fader. You can set the output level with the channel faders, the tone controls and
the GAIN control. An additional REC input is located on the front panel.
7.4 Headphones
Via stereo headphones both the prefader level of the input channel and the current music program can be
monitored ahead of the master fader. Connect your headphones to the 6.3 mm jack PHONES.
7.5 Amplifiers
You can connect up to three amplifiers to the EM-760A. The output signal of the Master 1 signal can be
adjusted via the MASTER 1 control. The output signal of the Master 2 signal can be adjusted via the
MASTER 2 control. The output signal of the Booth signal can be adjusted via the BOOTH control.
Master 1 output and Master 2 output can either be connected via RCA-sockets or balanced XLR mounting-
plugs. Due to the lower interference problems, we recommend to use the XLR mounting-plugs.
Via the BOOTH sockets, you can either connect monitor active speakers for the DJ-booth or an additional
amplifier for creating another zone.
