a) Switching the multimeter on/off

The multimeter can be turned on and off using the button
2 seconds until the meter comes on with a signal sound. To deactivate, keep the button
pushed for approx. 2 seconds until the display goes out. Always turn the measuring device off
when it is not in use.
Before working with the meter, you have to insert the enclosed batteries. Insertion
and changing of the batteries is described in the chapter "Cleaning and Mainte-
nance".

b) Perform measurement

The vC-13 recognises the measuring signal pending at the measuring prods and automatically
switches to the right measuring function. Manual switching is not required.
The measuring functions are automatically set by the multimeter based on the measuring
signal. From a voltage level of >1 volt onwards, the voltage measurement takes place, <1
v activates resistance measurement. The measuring range is selected automatically for all
measuring functions. Switching of AC/DC in the voltage measuring range is also performed
automatically by the multimeter.
Proceed as follows to measure:
Switch on the DMM. The display shows "ALL".
- Check the measuring lines for continuity by connecting the two measuring prods. The imped-
ance value must be approximately 0.005 kOhm (inherent impedance of the measuring lines).
- Connect the two measuring prods to the object to be measured (battery, circuit, resistor etc.).
The red measuring prod indicates the positive pole, the black measuring prod the negative
pole.
- The current measured value is displayed together with the unit. The respective displays
differ depending on measuring function.
- Remove the measuring lines from the object to be measured after completion of the meas-
urement and switch off the DMM.
