8. COmmISSIONINg

before commissioning, observe both intended use and the safety notes and
technical data.
before commissioning, ensure that the device is suitable for the purpose for
which it is to be used.

a) battery Installation/Change

If the power LED grows weaker after some time, replace the battery. Proceed as follows:
Disconnect the multi-cable tester from all connected cables.
Open the battery compartment on the back of the multi-cable tester.
Remove the flat battery and insert an unused battery of the same type in the correct polarity.
Use only 9-V block batteries (best use alkaline ones).
After correct insertion of the battery, close the battery compartment lid again.
Wrong polarity of the battery will destroy the device!
You can order suitable alkaline batteries stating the following item no.: item no.
65 25 09 (please order one).
Only use alkaline batteries, as they are powerful and have a long service life.

b) testing Coax Networks (bNC, thin Ethernet)

Test BNC lines in three steps: Short-circuit test, continuity test and function test.
- Switch on the multi cable tester by pushing the power switch (6). The flashing power LED (4)
will indicate readiness for operation.
- Connect the BNC socket (1) of the multi-cable tester to one end of the cable to be meas-
ured. The other cable end remains open.
