steps 1 – 7 of the procedure for starting the
engine from cold.
7.3 Switching off the engine
Emergency Stop procedure:
If it becomes necessary to stop the equipment im-
mediately, set the On/Off switch to „Stop" or „0".
Normal procedure:
Let go of the throttle lever and wait until the engi-
ne has changed to idling speed. Then set the On/
Off switch to „Stop" or „0".
7.4 Fitting the shoulder strap
Warning! Always use the shoulder strap when
working with the equipment. Switch off the equip-
ment before you take off the shoulder strap (risk
of injury).
1. Slip the shoulder strap over your shoulder.
2. Adjust the length of the shoulder strap so that
the strap attachment is at waist level.
7.5 Work practice
Practice all the work steps with the engine swit-
ched off before you start to use the equipment.

8. Working with the hedge trimmer

Never allow the machine to run at low speed for
starting or for cutting.
Adjusting the angle of the cutting blade
(Fig. 11 -14)
Danger! Switch off the engine before you make
any adjustments.
The cutting blade can be tilted in order to ensure
an ergonomic working position. Grip the adjuster
lever (Item 3) with your left hand. First actuate le-
ver A with your index fi nger and then lever B with
your thumb.
Set the cutting blade to the preferred position.
When levers A and B are released, they will be
locked in position.
Cutting dense growth:
The most eff ective method is to use wide,
sweeping movements, guiding the cutting edge of
the blade straight through the branches. A slight
incline of the blade downwards in the direction of
movement will produce the best cutting results
(Fig. 22).

It is recommended to tie a guide line of string or
the like along the hedge so that you cut the hedge
to a level height. The branches above it will be
cut off .
Cutting the sides of a hedge:
Cut the sides of a hedge with curve-shaped mo-
vements from the bottom up (Fig. 23).
For design reasons, the engine might stall when
the tank is not full and you use the equipment to
cut the sides of long hedges.

9. Maintenance

9.1 Maintenance
Always switch off the head trimmer and remove
the spark boot plug before carrying out any main-
tenance work.
1. The high-quality cutter blades are made of
tempered steel, and in normal use there is no
need to sharpen the blades. If you acciden-
tally strike a wire, stone, glass or other hard
object, this may produce a notch in the blade.
There is no need to remove the notch as long
as it does not adversely aff ect the movement
of the cutting edges. If it does adversely aff ect
this movement, switch off the machine and
use a fi ne fi le or a fi ne grinding stone to remo-
ve the notch. Make sure that the cutting blade
is always well oiled (Fig. 16).
2. If you drop the hedge trimmer, check it for da-
mage. If it is damaged, contact an authorized
customer service outlet.
9.2 Maintenance of the air fi lter (Fig. 24-26)
Soiled air fi lters reduce the engine power by
supplying too little air to the carburetor. Regular
checks are therefore essential. The air fi lter (T)
should be checked after every 25 hours of use
and cleaned if necessary. If the air contains a
lot of dust, the air fi lter should be checked more
frequently.
1. Remove the air fi lter cover (Fig. 24).
2. Remove the air fi lter (Fig. 25/26).
3. Clean the air fi lter by tapping it or blowing it
out.
4. Assemble in reverse order.
Warning! Never clean the air fi lter with petrol or
infl ammable solvents.
