If you do not use your unit for a longer period of time, remove the battery from
the handset. In this case, do not put the handset in charging position on the base
station. It is better for your batteries not to do so.
·
If the battery in the handset has not been charged for a long period of time, charge
it following the speed charge procedure in "Charging of a new battery".
·
Do not throw faulty batteries just anywhere, they are small chemical waste and
have to be treated as such.

8. OPERATION

With the following settings you will hear a confirmation signal each time the setting
has been executed correctly.
The settings are executed by pressing the buttons that correspond with the symbols
shown, f.i.
= pushing the line button.
The indication XXXX shows that you have to enter your 4-digit PIN-code. Standard this
is set to 0000.

8.1. TONE AND PULSE DIALLING

Standard the Butler 100 has been set to pulse dialling. For a faster dialling of the
numbers and for an easy use of tele services, it is best that you set your telephone to
tone dialling when this is offered on your telephone line.
Pulse dialling:
if you are connected to an older (mechanic) telephone exchange.
Tone dialling:
if you are connected to a modern electronic (DTMF) telephone

During the tone dialling you can press the set button
prolong the tone signals (f.i. for the remote control of an answering machine). This
prolongation of the tone signals is cancelled when you push the line button.

8.1.3. TEMPORARY PULSE -> TONE SWITCH
When your public telephone line requires that your unit remains set to pulse dialling,
you still have the possibility to temporarily switch to tone dialling, for instance for
telebanking, pager calls, remote control of answering machine, ...
You can use this function by pressing the *-button immediately after having dialed
the desired telephone number. The numbers that are now entered are sent in tone
dialling mode.
When you end the communication, the unit returns automatically to pulse dialling.

8.2. MAKING A TELEPHONE CALL

Make sure the correct dialling system has been set (pulse or tone dialling) as
described in 8.1. Tone and pulse dialling.
You can make a telephone call in 2 different ways:
1. Press the line button
. When the radio connection has been established, you
hear a short beep.
The radio connection indicator on the base station lights and on the display of the
handset the radio connection symbol appears.
Now the desired telephone number can be dialed.
Press the line button
to end the conversation.
2. You can also first enter the desired telephone number and press the line button
afterwards. This gives you the possibility to check the entered telephone number
before it is dialled (predialling feature).
In both cases the call timer appears 15 seconds after the last digit has been entered.
The call timer counts till maximum 99 minutes and 59 seconds.
When you do not hear your caller loud enough, you can set the speaker volume by
means of the speaker volume switch on the right side of the handset.
If you wish to make another phone call, you can push the hang-up button
