Measurement results may be stored by
pressing the key „Store" (26).
5.2 Insulation Measurement
Prior to definitive commissioning, insulation mea-
surement must to be carried out in electrical instal-
lations. This measurement is of basic importance as
insulation measurements (protection against haz-
ardous body currents) are used, for example, to pre-
vent fires occuring. If a limited fault current flows
between two conductors due to an insulation error,
a build up of heat or even a fire will be the conse-
quence. The only way is to carry out an insulation
resistance measurement .

• of all active conductors (e.g. L1, L2, L3) towards
ground or towards the grounded protective con-
ductor (PE, N)
• between protective conductor (PE) and neutral
(N)
• between external conductors (e.g. L1, L2, L3).
This measurement may be omitted if the re-
spective line is equipped with a grounded con-
ductor or shield.

• The measurement must be carried out for each in-
dividual (switched-off !!) current circuit.
" Connect red test lead (equipped with individual
plugs) to the TELARIS 0100.
" Connect test leads to EUT via the crocodile clips.
" Select insulation resistance measurement
range (RINS) via the rotary switch.
" Press the key „Start" (25).
" Read the measurement value on the display.

The following has to be respected:
During insulation measurement, ensure that all
loads are disconnected from the mains and it
must be ensured that all current circuits are
switched on.
Prior to any insulation measurement, it must be
guaranteed that no installation parts to be test-
ed are live.
If an external voltage is present, the instru-
ment displays „Uext" and "attention" after
the „Start" key has been pressed. The insula-
tion measurement is then blocked. The sym-
bol „Uext" (5) appears if a second measure-
ment is started without an extraneous
voltage present.
During the test, the instrument continuously
indicates in the lower display part the nomi-
nal voltage (500V) of the insulation mea-
surement range.
The instrument TELARIS 0100 includes a dy-
namic measurement duration. The measure-
ment continues automatically until a stabili-
sation of the measurement value has been
achieved. This guarantees a correct mea-
surement result within a short period of time.
In addition the battery life is also enhanced.
Possibility to store the measurement result
by pressing the key „Store" (26).
If „>199.9 MΩ" appears on the display, a par-
ticularly good insulation resistance has been
measured.
