7.10. Device with a HDMI or DVI output

HDMI ("High Definition Multimedia Interface") is the only interface in the area of consumer electronics that transmits
audio and video data simultaneously. It handles all image and sound formats currently in use, including HDTV (High
Definition TV), which means it can also display resolutions of 1080i without any loss in quality.
Many consumer electronic devices, e.g. DVD players, are now equipped with HDMI or DVI outputs.

7.10.1. Connecting an external device with a HDMI output

 Connect an HDMI cable (not supplied) to one of the HDMI inputs on the smart TV and to the HDMI output of the ex-
ternal device.
 Switch the smart TV on when the HDMI device is connected.
 Switch on the external HDMI playback device.

7.10.2. Connecting an external device with a DVI output

If the external device has a DVI output then you can also connect it to the HDMI input (HDMI is downwards compatible
to DVI - "Digital Visual Interface"). For this you will need a HDMI-DVI adapter.
The DVI output does not transmit sound so you will also have to connect an audio cable. Connect a stereo cinch cable
(red and white plugs) to the AV adapter and the audio outputs on the external device.

7.11. Connecting a PC

The smart TV is connected to your PC or notebook like a monitor or additional monitor. The picture on your notebook
or PC is then transmitted to the smart TV.
Connect the smart TV to the PC as follows:
 Switch off both devices.
 Connect a VGA cable (monitor cable; not supplied) to the VGA input of the smart TV and to the graphic card output
of the PC or notebook.
 Tighten up the screws of the monitor cable with your fingers, so that the plugs are correctly seated in the sockets.
 If you also want to send a sound signal, connect an audio cable to the side AV socket using the AV adapter.
 Then switch on the smart TV.
 Then switch on the PC/notebook.
 Use SOURCE to select PC mode.
The PC image will appear on the smart TV. Use the SOURCE button to return to TV mode.
If you use the smart TV as a second monitor for your PC you might have to change the display properties of your op-
erating system. To do this, please read the operating instructions for your PC/notebook to find out the operational re-
quirements for using multiple monitors.

7.12. Connecting a network

Connecting via a router/switch/hub
 Use a suitable cable to connect your PC to one of the LAN connectors of the router/switch/hub (e.g. LAN).
PLEASE NOTE!
To be able to use the AUDIO VIDEO SHARING function, the other hardware must be on the same
network.
 Use another LAN output of the router/switch/hub (e.g. LAN) to connect your TV. Connect the LAN port on the rear of
the TV to the LAN connector on the router/switch/hub.
Connecting via a network socket
Depending on your network configuration, you can connect your TV to your LAN network. To do this, use an Ethernet
cable to connect your TV directly to the network socket on the wall.
Via WLAN
If you have the possibility to connect to a WLAN router, use the integrated WLAN. To set up the WLAN network, read the
section NETWORK/INTERNET SETTINGS on page 38.
