Safety instructions

Please read through the following instructions carefully and keep them in a safe place.
½ Check the coffeemaker for damage after
unpacking. In the unlikely event that it is
damaged, do not use it and contact the
repair service.
½ Keep the packing material for transport and
possible return consignments. Store well
away from children.
½ Before using the appliance, ensure that the
mains voltage is the same as that on the
nameplate on the bottom of the coffeemaker.
The appliance is only to be connected to a
properly earthed socket with a minimum 10A
rating.
½ The electrical safety of this appliance is only
ensured when it is properly earthed in con-
formity with the standards in force and/or
electrical safety code. The manufacturer is
not liable for any damage arising from the
appliance being earthed in a manner not in
accordance with regulations. If you are not
sure about earthing, please contact a
specialist.
½ If the power socket is not compatible with
the plug of your appliance, please have the
socket replaced.
½ Damage can be avoided by never using the
appliance without coffee or water. The
appliance is only suitable for the making of
coffee and coffee specialities as well as for
heating water. Inappropriate or inadmissible
use of the coffeemaker could result in injury
or the user being scalded by hot water or
steam.
½ The manufacturer is not liable for damage
due to incorrect or inappropriate handling.
½ On no account is the appliance to be dipped
in water or touched with wet/damp hands
or feet. Do not use in damp or humid rooms
(e.g. shower rooms).

½ Children and those who have not been
instructed in the use of the coffeemaker are
only to use the appliance under supervision.
½ Avoid contact with the hot parts of the
appliance, such as the milk frother (14),
coffee outlet (12) or heated cup tray (4).
½ Do not put your hands under the coffee
outlet when coffee is being dispensed. Above
all, make sure when removing the coffee
grounds container (11) that no coffee is being
brewed.
½ Pull out the plug before servicing the
appliance or cleaning the outside surface.
½ All transparent parts (bean container and
water reservoir) are not suitable for dish-
washer cleaning. Dishwasher cleaning of the
drip tray, coffee ground container and lower
base of the milk frother could result in them
becoming slightly discoloured.
½ Shut down the appliance immediately in the
case of defects or malfunctioning and
undertake no repairs yourself. Contact only
the service hotline in the case of repair
questions.
½ In the case of damage to the appliance's
power-supply cord, it must be replaced by
the manufacturer or a member of its
customer service staff or a similarly qualified
person in order to avoid any danger.
½ Shut down the appliance and pull out the
plug if you are away for some time.
½ Do not transport the appliance in cold
vehicles or keep it in cold rooms. Residual
moisture could freeze and damage the
coffeemaker.
Non-adherence to the above instructions
can impair the safety of your appliance.

Installation

Place the appliance on a stable, dry surface.
Keep it away from hot surfaces.
There should be a space of some 10 cm
between the appliance and the wall or other
objects.
Only unroll that length of power-supply cord
that you need. You can store the rest in the
compartment of the machine housing.
The Perfect Cappuccino milk frother is packed
and delivered in a non-assembled state to
prevent damage. Please assemble as follows:
½ Fig. A Pull the knob for steam/hot water
supply (16) completely out of the appliance,
as the Perfect Cappuccino cannot be
mounted otherwise.

Preparation

Take the water reservoir (7) out of the appliance
and add fresh water (max. 1.5 litres), either
through the opening or by taking off the lid.
Press the water reservoir firmly back into
position to open the rear valve. Pour in fresh
water every day.

Switching on/shutting down

By pressing the on/off key (21), a welcoming
text appears, the brew compartment is set to
operation and the appliance begins to heat
up. The appliance carries out an automatic
rinsing cycle when put into operation. No
rinsing occurs when switching on if the
appliance has been out of operation for under
60 minutes. The temperature display (18)
flashes during the entire operation. The
selected function or the programme last
selected is shown in the display. The appliance
is now ready for operation. To set the language
please proceed as described in section 13.6.
It can happen that air is trapped between the
pump and the water reservoir. In this case, no
water comes out during rinsing, even though

½ Carefully push the hose coupling element
up to the stop into the hole on the left next
to the service door (6). When assembled
the hose must face upwards.
½ Screw the steam pipe with whisk back onto
the Perfect Cappuccino.
½ Push the knob for steam/hot water (16)
completely back into the coffeemaker.
We recommend immediately setting the water
hardness to that of your local area. Please
proceed as described under section 13.1.
For hygienic reasons, we would advise pouring
away the first cup of coffee after starting
operation.
the pump is trying to draw water. The coffee-
maker must be vented. Place a receptacle
under the milk frother (14) and open the knob
for steam/hot water (16) until water comes
out. Then close the valve. Venting of the
appliance is now complete.
To shut down the appliance, press the on/off
key (21). Automatic rinsing occurs before the
appliance shuts itself down automatically. No
rinsing occurs if no coffee is supplied between
switching on and shutting down.
The appliance automatically shuts down 6
hours, at the latest, after the last action. The
timer can be set to a different time. Please
refer to section 13.4.
