In order to avoid malfunctions, damage or health hazards, please adhere to the
following safety Instructions. If the safety Instructions and the information on proper
use in these operating instructions are deliberately or negligibly ignored, there is a
risk of hazards, e.g. short circuit, fire, explosion or electric shock. In such cases, the
manufacturer Detlev Louis Motorrad-Vertriebsgesellschaft mbH (Switzerland: Detlev
Louis AG) assumes no liability for any resultant personal injury/material damage; the
warranty will also be rendered null and void.
If you are not certain about the right way to connect or operate the device, or if any
other questions arise that are not covered in the operating instructions, please contact
our technical customer service department (page 39) or another specialist.
Safety instructions – Use
• When charging batteries, it is imperative that you adhere to the charging
guidelines and safety instructions of the respective battery and vehicle
manufacturer.
• This charger is constructed to protection class 2 and must only be operated with a
properly installed, common domestic AC voltage supply of 220 - 240 V/AC (50/60
Hz). The mains socket must be near to the charger and easily accessible.
• This charger must not be converted or modified (amongst other reasons, for
reasons of both safety and official approval) and it is not intended for commercial
use.
• This charger must not be touched with damp or wet hands.
• This charger is only approved for indoor operation in dry, closed rooms.
• Always check all the cables and connections for damage before commissioning.
• The charger must always be disconnected from the power supply (main socket)
before the connections to the battery are established or disconnected.
• This charger must always be disconnected from the power supply (mains socket)
after operation.
• Never pull on the power cord. Always take hold of the mains plug instead.
• This charger and the battery have to be positioned so that the air can circulate.
Keep a minimum gap of 5 cm around the charger free. The charger and the
battery must not be covered and/or placed on a flammable underlay. During
operation, keep away all objects (especially flammable material) which may
become damaged or catch fire as a result of high temperatures. The charger and
the battery being charged must be set up stably so that they cannot topple over
or fall.
• Lay all cables in such a way that they do not cause a tripping hazard and they
