unit has an automatic shut-down feature to protect
the batteries. The large, dominant LCD display
shows the following measured values at the same
time:
- current wind strength, optionally in knots, km/h,
miles/h, m/s or Beaufort
- maximum or average wind speed
- current temperature or "perceived tempera-
ture"
- minimum or maximum temperature
- quasi analogue bar graph display of wind
strength
By means of the bar graph display, which shows
the wind speed linearly in 5 km/h steps up to a
maximum of 100 km/h, short-term changes can
be detected more quickly than with the digital
display.
The temperature can optionally be displayed in
°C or °F and alternatively as a windchill equivalent
("perceived temperature"). The latter indication in
particular can be especially useful, as it enables a
real evaluation to be made of the heat loss from our
body due to the effect of the wind and thus precau-
tions against hypothermia to be taken.
3. Removing and replacing the protec-
tive cap
Important note: To prevent damage to the
sensitive propeller and the bearing, the protec-
tive cap must be removed and replaced with
special care!
