Troubleshooting schedule

Problem
Engine does not start, runs erratically or
experiencing power loss.
Engine skips at high speed.
Engine idles poorly.
Engine overheats.
Excessive vibration and / or noise.
Oil leaks from muffl er or air cleaner.
TROUBLE SHOOTING
Possible Cause
Throttle not in choke / start position.
Fuel tank empty or fuel shut off valve
closed.
Air cleaner element is dirty.
Spark plug loose.
Spark plug cable disconnected.
Defective spark plug.
Spark plug gap incorrect.
Carburettor is fl ooded with fuel.
Dirt, water or stale fuel in the tank.
Vent hole in the fi ller cap is blocked.
Blocked engine cooling fi ns and air
passages.
Blocked engine cooling fi ns and air
passages.
Faulty spark plug.
Too low oil level.
Worn or damaged bearings.
Worn or damaged drive chains and / or
sprockets.
Worn or damaged cutting reel or bot-
tom blade.
Engine oil sump over fi lled.
Mower tipped or handled incorrectly.

Action
Move throttle to choke / start position.
Fill tank with recommended fuel grade
and open fuel shut-off valve.
Service or replace air cleaner.
Tighten spark plug.
Refi t cable to spark plug.
Replace the spark plug.
Adjust the gap or replace the spark
plug.
Move throttle to 'stop' position, pull the
starter cord 5 - 6 times, move throttle
to 'run' and start engine.
Drain and clean fuel tank. Refi ll with
clean fresh fuel before starting.
Clean or replace fi ller cap.
Clean thoroughly around engine.
Clean thoroughly around engine.
Replace the spark plug.
Check oil level and top up if necessary.
Remove and inspect suspect bearings,
replace if necessary.
Remove and inspect suspect chains
and sprockets, replace if necessary.
Inspect cutting reel and bottom blade
for excessive wear or damage. The
knifes will require regrinding or replace-
ment by your authorised Klippo Agent
Check oil level and drain excessive oil.
Check oil level, air cleaner and spark
plug and correct as necessary.
