Fuel safety

Never run the engine indoors, in enclosed or poorly
ventilated areas. The exhaust fumes contain toxic
carbon monoxide. Always ensure there is adequate
ventilation when handling fuel. Long-term inhalation
of the engine's exhaust fumes can represent a health
hazard.
The exhaust fumes from the engine are hot and may
contain sparks which can start a fi re. Never start the
machine indoors or near combustible material! Do not
smoke or place hot objects near fuel.
Only store fuel in containers approved for the purpose.
Never start the machine:
If you have spilt fuel or engine oil on the machine. Wipe
off the spill and allow the remaining fuel to evaporate.
If you spill fuel or engine oil on yourself or your clothes.
Change your clothes.
If the machine is leaking fuel. Check regularly for leaks
from the fuel cap and fuel lines.
Fuelling
Use high-grade unleaded petrol of at least 85 octane.
Leaded petrol can be used if unleaded petrol is not
available. Petrol is a perishable product. Do not buy
a larger amount of petrol than can be used within 30
days.
Always shut off the engine before refuelling. Always
remove the ignition lead from the spark plug before
refuelling.
Allow the engine to cool before refuelling.
Clean around the fuel cap. When refuelling, open the
fuel cap slowly so that any excess pressure is released
gently.
Do not fi ll too much petrol. Leave about 35 mm under
the fi ller cap so that the fuel can expand.
Tighten the fuel cap carefully after refuelling.
Always move the machine away from the refuelling area
before starting.
Engine oil
The engine is delivered without oil. Fill with engine oil to
the correct level. Refer to Technical Data for recom-
mendations on which oil type to use.
For the best result and function use HUSQVARNA
engine oil. When HUSQVARNA engine oil is not
available another high grade engine oil can be used.
Contact your dealer when selecting oil. In general SAE
30 is recommended.
Check the oil level before starting the machine. A too
low oil level can cause serious damage to the engine.
Oil level
The lawn mower should stand on fl at ground when you
check the oil level. Ensure the ignition lead has been
removed from the spark plug before you open the oil
fi ller cap.
Unscrew the oil cap, clean the dipstick located on the
cap and insert the cap again without screwing it down.
Check the oil level on the dipstick.
If the oil level is low, fi ll using engine oil up to the upper
level on the dipstick. Only use recommended engine
oil. See the Technical data section.
Transport and storage
If the machine is not used for some time the fuel tank
should be emptied and cleaned.
Store and transport the machine and fuel so that there
is no risk of any leakage or fumes coming into contact
with sparks or naked fl ames, for example, from elec-
trical machinery, electric motors, electrical relays/swit-
ches or boilers.
When storing and transporting fuel always use appro-
ved containers intended for this purpose.
The machine should always be stored in a dry place
when not in use.

Personal safety

Wear personal protective equipment. See instructions
under the heading Personal protective equipment.
Never allow children or other persons not trained in the
use of the machine to use or service it.
Overexposure to vibration can lead to circulatory
damage or nerve damage in people who have impaired
circulation. Contact your doctor if you experience
symptoms of overexposure to vibration. Such
symptoms include numbness, loss of feeling, tingling,
pricking, pain, loss of strength, changes in skin colour
or condition. These symptoms normally appear in
the fi ngers, hands or wrists. The risk increases at low
temperatures.
The ignition system of this machine produces an elec-
tromagnetic fi eld during operation. This fi eld may under
some circumstances interfere with pacemakers. To
reduce the risk of serious or fatal injury, we recommend
persons with pacemakers to consult their physician
and the pacemaker manufacturer before operating this
machine.
Personal protective equipment
You must use personal protection whenever you use the
machine.
Hearing protection
Gloves must be worn when required, for example when
fi tting, inspecting or cleaning cutting attachments.
Always wear heavy, long pants. Do not wear shorts,
sandals or go barefoot.
Wear sturdy, non-slip boots or shoes.
Generally clothes should be close-fi tting without restric-
ting your freedom of movement.
