The scale signal output from the detector unit changes continuously at widths ranging from
the minimum phase difference (1 µs) to 1 µs + N x 200 ns (N: integer) according to the
relative movement velocity between the scale unit and the head unit. The relationship
between the movement velocity (V: m/min) and the phase difference (Tw: µs) is as follows:
60 × R
where R is the resolution (µm), and Tw is noted in 0.2 µs units with the
Tw = ————
V
remainder omitted.
Example: when V = 280 m/min and R = 10 µm
60 × 10
Tw = ———— = 2.1428 = 2.0 [µs]
280
For open collector output, the minimum phase difference is affected by the
characteristics of the receiving device and the output cable. Under general conditions,
however, the minimum phase difference is about 2 µs.
• When the head cable and the head unit become disconnected.
• When the clearance between the scale unit and the head unit widens causing the
head unit output to drop.
• When the unit is affected by powerful external noise and misoperates.
The detector unit LED changes color from green to orange. An alarm signal is generated.
Alarms can be canceled by the following methods.
• Press the reset switch (Sw1) inside the detector unit.
• Short the XRES and 0V pins of the output connector for 10 ms or more.
• Turn the power off and then on again.
