ENG
USE
• The smoker is designed to be used with liquefied petroleum gas.
• The smoker and gas cylinder must be connected to a CE-approved regulator and hose with
operating pressure of 30 mbar.
• Using an improper regulator or hose is dangerous and can lead to personal injury.
• The hose must be a maximum of 1.5 m long. Worn or damaged hoses must be replaced.
• We recommend replacing the hose every other year.
• Contact the nearest Rusta warehouse for information on which regulator fits your gas cylinder
and gas smoker.
• Check screws regularely for properly attachment.
GAS CYLINDER
• The gas cylinder must not be dropped or handled carelessly.
• If the smoker is not used, the gas cylinder must be disconnected and the safety cap mounted.
• The gas cylinder must never be placed so that it is exposed to temperatures over 50°C. There-
fore, do not place the gas cylinder directly under the smoker. The gas cylinder must also never
be placed or stored in places where there is a risk of fire or sparks, for example.
• Do not smoke in the immediate vicinity of the gas cylinder.
• It is prohibited to make any modifications to the gas cylinder. This can be fatal.
CONNECTING THE GAS CYLINDER TO THE SMOKER
1. Make sure the gas cylinder's valve is closed.
2. Connect the regulator's wing nut to the threads on the gas cylinder's valve. Tighten the wing nut
by hand, do not use tools if they may damage the valve's seal.
3. Connect the hose to the smoker's connector. If the hose is difficult to put on, you can try putting a
little soap on the hose. The hose must be connected to the smoker's connector with a hose clamp.
4. Make sure that the hose is not clogged, knotted or lying against any part of the smoker other
than the connector.
5. Check for leaks in the gas cylinder, regulator, hose and smoker before starting to grill. See the
section CHECKING FOR LEAKS.
CHECKING FOR LEAKS
1. Mix 50% soap with 50% water. Make sure that the gas valve on the gas cylinder is closed and
that the pinion on the smoker is closed.
2. Put a soap solution on the gas cylinder's valve, the regulator, the hose and the connector to the
smoker.
3. Open the gas valve on the gas cylinder. If there are small bubbles in any of the previously men-
tioned parts, this means that there is a leak.
4. Close the gas valve and tighten the hose connectors. Perform the test again. If there is still a
leak, contact your Rusta warehouse.
PRE-USE PROCEDURES
• Before you cook food in your smoker, it is important to "season" your smoker. Seasoning seals
the paint and interior of your smoker to enhance flavoring, durability, and overall performance.
This is also referred to as the "break-in" process.
• To season your smoker, simply use it as you normally would; only do not cook any food.
• You will need to follow all of the operating procedures in the next few sections of this manual.
