6.3 Baffle plates

At the top of the fireplace you will find the so-called flame baffle plates (see Appendix 2, Fig. 9). These plates
increase the temperature in the fire and therefore the efficiency. Your fire can be made with an adjustable steel
check hood (see Appendix 2, Fig. 10), that is able to control the draught towards the chimney somewhat. In case of
a high draught, the hood can be slid towards the back wall. As a result, the flue gases will be subjected to more
resistance. When there is very little draught, this check hood can be removed, in consultation with your supplier.
The flame baffle plates are easily replaced. In case of some fires, the bottom and side wall lining must be removed
first. For assembly and disassembly, please see the appliance specific section in the installation manual.
in case of collisions, the plate might break. When chimney sweeping, check the baffle plates for crack(s);
!CAUTION
when chimney sweeping, remove the baffle plates. Mark them so they can be returned at the same location.
when placing them back, check whether the baffle plates still fit properly in their intended profiles;
in case of excess condensation in the chimney, the flame baffle plate can become saturated with moisture and
therefore easily break. Consult your dealer/installer for a solution, if this problem occurs.
Ø
Do not burn the fire with no flame baffle plate.
Ø
If necessary, replace a broken or poorly fitting plate. It can be ordered via your supplier. Keep the old plate for the
dimensions.

6.4 Doorseal fire

The door is sealed with a ceramic strip or a springy stainless steel profile. In case of air leakage, more soot deposits
are created on the glass pane. If you establish leakage and your fire is sealed with a ceramic strip, please consult
your dealer or expert. In case of a sealing with springy stainless steel, see the description below.
Check the door sealing at least once a year for leakage.
!Caution
In case of a door with a springy stainless steel profile, space can be created between the profile and the door in due
time. You can easily solve this problem yourself.
Repair takes place as follows:
Ø
Open the door.
Ø
Put the palm of your hand against the edge of the door and press your fingertips against the bottom side of the
profile (see Appendix 2, Fig. 11).
Ø
Press your fingertips towards the palm of your hand in order to make the profile bulge again.
Ø
Adjust the profile in such a way that the door properly seals again.

6.5 Inner lining

At the bottom and on the side walls of the fire, heat-resistant plates are placed. These plates reflect the heat, have
an insulating effect and protect the steel plate walls of the fire. If cracks are created, for instance due to extreme
heat in the fire, this is not a problem. If lining plates are falling away from each other, they should be replaced.
For assembly and disassembly, please see the appliance specific installation manual.
Check the lining plates at least once per year for crack(s).
!Caution
Keep the old plate/plates as a reference for the dimensions of the new plate/plates.
!Tip
Ø
Remove the broken plate/plates, keep an eye on their order.
Ø
Place the new plate/plates in reverse order.
