Intended use
Comply with the ambient conditions for intended operation as described in section "Technical specifications" of the relevant
operating instructions.
NOTICE
Use of SIMATIC Industrial PCs
Additional requirements regarding the installation location may have to be met for specific installation positions or at high
ambient temperatures; see Operating Instructions (https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/de/en/view/109744171).
Box and Panel PCs within the scope of UL 508 or IEC/EN/UL 61010-2-201
Some devices are classified as "Open Type" within the scope of UL 508. Installation of the device in an enclosure conforming
to UL 508 or IEC/EN/UL 61010-2-201 is a mandatory requirement for approval and operation in accordance with UL 508 or
IEC/EN/UL 61010-2-201.
For details, see Operating Instructions (https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/de/en/view/109744171).
Note
Control cabinet installation instructions
In order for equipment to operate properly and safely in a control cabinet, it must be properly installed using installation
material recommended or approved by Siemens. The permissible ambient conditions must be adhered to. Information in the
relevant operating instructions must be observed.
A) Elevated operating temperature – In case of installation in a closed or multi-device control cabinet unit, the ambient
operating temperature of the control cabinet environment may be higher than the room temperature. Therefore
consideration should be given to installing the device in an environment that is compatible with the maximum ambient
temperature recommended by the manufacturer.
B) Reduced air flow - Installation of the devices in a control cabinet should be carried out in such a way that the amount of air
flow required for safe operation of the devices is not impaired.
C) Mechanical loading - The mounting of the devices in the control cabinet must be organized in such way that a hazardous
condition does not arise due to uneven mechanical loading.
D) Circuit overloading - When connecting the devices to the power supply, consideration must be given to the effects of
circuit overloads on the overcurrent protection and the power supply cables. In so doing, the nominal values stated on the
nameplate of the devices must be taken into account.
E) Reliable grounding - Reliable grounding of the devices installed in the control cabinet must be guaranteed. Information in
section "Connecting the protective conductor" in the relevant operating instructions must be observed in this regard.
Particular attention must be given to other supply connections than just the direct connections to the branch circuit (e. g.
power strips).
WARNING
Danger due to voltage/current
Only carry out installation and removal work when the device is disconnected from the power supply system.
Built-in devices with IP20 degree of protection must be integrated into an enclosure or cabinet that has a degree of
protection sufficient for the hazards at the place of use.
WARNING
Power supply connection
The power supply may only be connected by qualified and authorized personnel. Pay particular attention to the information
on the nameplate of the device and in the relevant Operating Instructions
(https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/de/en/view/109744171).
The connection of the power supply must be carried out by the owner/user in accordance with the national installation
regulations.
Comply with the notes and warnings regarding connection of the power supply in the Operating Instructions
(https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/de/en/view/109744171).
WARNING
Risk of fire and electric shock
The on/off switch does not disconnect the device from the power supply system. There is a risk of electric shock if the device
is opened improperly or is defective. There is also a risk of fire if the device or connecting cables are damaged.
You should therefore protect yourself and the device as follows:
Always unplug the power plug when the device is not in use or if the device is defective. The power plug must be freely
accessible.
Properly connect the device to a protective conductor.
Use a central isolating switch during cabinet installation.
