Switching the devive on / off

PLEASE NOTE!
• Before switching on/off, make sure that the water tank is filled with clear water and
inserted (see chapter 'Preparation' - 'Filling the water tank').
To switch on the device, make sure that the on / off switch on the back of the device is in
•
position I and touch the display (19).
The touch display switches on and the device carries out the heating process and any
cleaning processes in sequence. The respective step is shown on the touch display. Do not
operate the device during this time.
Once all processes are complete, the main menu is displayed. The device is ready for
operation.
To switch off the device, touch in the main menu. The maintenance menu opens. Touch
•
the menu item Cleaning when switching on/off and confirm the switch-off process with
.
The device carries out any cleaning processes. The touch display then switches off and the
device is in standby mode.
If no further action is taken, the device automatically switches to standby mode after a
period of time. If necessary, this time can be adjusted (see chapter „Device settings" -
„Adjusting the standby time").

Beverage Programmes

The device has 19 different beverage programmes to choose from. In addition, a coffee recipe
book with preset recipes is stored in the device. Choose from over 15 recipes and follow the
instructions on the touch display (19).

Hotplate

PLEASE NOTE!
• The hotplate is hot while the device is in operation and immediately after it is switched
off!
• The hotplate cannot be switched off separately as it is automatically heated by the
device's boiler as long as the device is switched on.
On the hotplate (1) you can preheat your cups or keep espresso that you have made warm. As
soon as the device heats up, the hotplate is automatically heated at the same time.

Setting the Grinding Fineness

PLEASE NOTE!
• Only twist the setting wheel during operation. Otherwise the grinder could be
damaged or get blocked.
The degree of grinding affects the flavour of your coffee. Coarsely ground coffee powder
shortens the extraction time, which makes the coffee weaker.
The degree of grinding can be continuously adjusted using the setting wheel (21) in the bean
compartment (22). Two types of setting are possible:
We recommend using the setting step by step to find the perfect setting for your personal
taste. If the setting is not fine / coarse enough for you, you can make an even more precise
setting by first pressing down the setting wheel and then turning it.
The direction of rotation of the dial determines the grind:
– all the way to the right: coarsest grinding level
– all the way to the left: finest grinding level
When you switch to another grinding strength, there will still be espresso powder with
the previous grinding strength in the grinder. Therefore the change is only noticeable
from around the third brewing process.
