Activate Windows XP
Windows XP is to be activated right away; otherwise you will be reminded each
time you log in and at common intervals during a grace period of 30 days. When
the grace period has expired, Windows XP has to be activated for further use.
– Press Start/All Programs/Activate Windows to activate Windows XP.
Activate over the Internet
The quickest way to activate Windows XP is over the Internet; it can be done in
a couple of seconds. When activating over the Internet, the activation wizard
will detect your Internet connection and connect to a secure server to transfer
your installation ID to Microsoft. A confirmation ID is passed back to your
computer, automatically activating Windows XP. No personally identifiable in-
formation is required to activate Windows XP.
