2. User instructions
2.1 Important Information
Work to be performed only by qualified per
sonnel.
Read and understand the operating instruc
tions before working with the disassembly
tool.
When working with the disassembly tool
Always wear safety goggles.
2.2 Safety Instructions
The following safety instructions make no claim to
being a complete list and
refer only to direct work with the disassembly tool!
Detailed safety instructions can be found in the sepa-
rate Bosch ESI[tronic] vehicle manuals in the section
"Safety instructions". It is essential that these instruc-
tions be read carefully and observed before using the
disassembly tool.
It is assumed that the individuals working on the disas-
sembly tool are trained technicians and that the work
will be performed correctly!
Risk of slipping
Immediately wipe up and dry any spilled fuel
or fuel that escaped when loosening lines.
� Prepare a suitable container for catching
the escaping fuel.
2.3 Working on the engine and
fuel system
Caution!
The fuel system operates at a pressure of up
to 25 MPa (250 bar) and is under high pres-
sure even after the engine is shut off!
� Before working on the engine, it is nec-
essary to depressurize the fuel system.
Information in this regard can be found
in the service documentation provided by
the vehicle manufacturer or in the vehicle
manual for the Bosch ESI[tronic].

Work on the engine only when it is in a cool condi-
tion.

3. Product description
3.1 Intended use
The disassembly tool 0 986 616 101 is used to remove
high-pressure injector types HDEV 1 and HDEV 5 short
version (fig. 1). Any other or additional application does
not constitute the intended use.
