Application
The Snap-on CTGRS8806/CTGRS8828 Die Grinder is
ideal for many automotive and industrial high speed
grinding jobs. By using various Snap-on 1/4" grinding
accessories with a rated speed of at least 6,000
(CTGRS8806)
or 25,000 (CTGRS8825) RPM, the
grinder can be used in finishing dies and metal molds,
smoothing and shaping sheet metal and cast iron, weld
finishing and other high speed grinding applications.
Operation
1/4"
The die grinder's collet is intended for retaining
accessories with 1/4" shanks. Remove collet nut and
insert the appropriate collet into the spindle.
Fuel Gauge
The tool is equipped with a fuel gauge to indicate the
battery's state of charge. It is located on the left side of
the tool at the top of the handle. A round tri-color LED
changes color depending on state of charge. The gauge
is activated for three seconds at each trigger pull. The
following describes its function:
• LED IS GREEN - Battery is between 40% and 100%
charged
• LED IS YELLOW - Battery is between 25% and 40%
charged
• LED IS RED - Battery is between 0% and 25% charged
• LED IS FLASHING RED - Battery needs charging
immediately

Overloading
If the tool is overloaded for any reason the internal
electronics will cause it to stop working. This safety
feature will prevent under voltage, over temperature, and
over current damage to the tool or battery. Switch off the
grinder until it cools sufficiently.
— When the tool is used under heavy load
continuously,
temperature of the switch or battery may be
reached, and the tool will temporarily stop
working. A hot tool will cool in about 1 minute. A
hot battery may require over 15 minutes to cool.
When this condition occurs, usually the battery
will be very close to needing recharging. You may
want to use another battery to finish the job.
Note: The battery charger will show a flashing
yellow LED until the battery cools sufficiently to
begin charge. When the tool is cold (less than
4ºF/-20ºC) it may be necessary to run it a few
seconds, without load, to warm up the battery.
Removing and Installing
Grinding Accessories
1. BIT TYPES ALLOWED FOR USE WITH THIS TOOL:
abrasive grinding bits, drums, wire brushing, carving
and abrasive cut-off wheels within the diameter limit.
2. Remove battery pack
3. Insert the shaft of the grinding accessory at least half of
the accessory shank's length into the spindle.
4. Use the wrench supplied & engaging the spindle lock
by pushing the button down, tighten the collet nut
snugly onto the spindle. Check to be sure that the
accessory is tight in the spindle before using the tool.
General Use
1. After installing the bit, test it by letting it spin for 30
seconds before putting it into use.
Never use a bit that has been dropped. Out-of-
balance or damaged accessories can damage the
workpiece or the tool and cause stress that may
cause bit failure.
2. Use a clamp, vise or other practical means to hold your
work, freeing your hand(s) to control the tool.
Hold tool securely with your hand(s).
3. Start the tool.
4. To start the tool, grasp the grip area firmly and slide the
switch to 'I'.
CAUTION
—The gearbox of the grinder is not a
grip area. Do not grip the tool by this area, as it
gets hot during heavy use.
5. Allow the bit to come to full speed before beginning
work.
