ETHICS
For Chopard, genuine luxury is syn onymous
with ethics as well as with environmental
and social responsibility at all levels of its
activity and with regard to its employees,
its suppliers, its customers and indeed the
planet itself.
The Maison adopts an ethical approach
to its activities that involves controlling the
origin of its raw materials as well as its pro-
duction methods – all of which is achievable
because of its complete independence and
vertical integration. As part of its Corporate
Social Responsibility (CSR) policy and its
'journey to sustainable luxury', Chopard
has entered into several responsible mining
partnerships and has committed to using
ethical gold only. The Maison has been cer-
tified by the Responsible Jewellery Council
(RJC) for several years and incorporates
sustainable practices into both its entities
and supply chains.
As a pioneering leader in this field, Chopard
testifies to its strong involvement in con-
temporary matters and its keen awareness
of social and environmental issues. The
Maison works to raise customer awareness
and makes a strong commitment to ensur-
ing that the jewellery and watch industry
improves its impact and transparency in its
supply chains.
Ethical Gold
Gold is the raw material most widely used
in Chopard's production. It is due to this
that the Maison devoted particular atten-
tion to ensuring that one of the biggest
milestones of the Journey to Sustainable
Luxury would be the sourcing of respon-
sibly mined gold for its entire watch and
jeweller y production. This objective
has been successfully met since July
2018 when Chopard began using 100 %
Ethically produced gold – verified as
having met international best practice
environmental and social standards – in
its workshops.
More specifically, Chopard's ethical gold
is sourced through two transparent and
traceable schemes:
– Artisanal freshly mined gold
produced in a responsible manner
– Chain of Custody Gold from
RJC-Certified refineries
Chopard Lucent Steel A223
Chopard Lucent Steel A223 is a metal like
no other. REACH-certified and produced
with an ethical approach, this unique and
precious metal is the product of four years
of tireless research. Special care was
taken in order to ensure that the material
used to craft the Alpine Eagle was not only
beautiful but highly performant. Uniquely
durable, Chopard Lucent Steel A223 is
harder than other steels. It is also anti-
allergenic, making it comparable in quality
to surgical steel. But all this function would
be nothing without form. Chopard Lucent
Steel A223 is perhaps most prized for
its signature lucent quality that gives the
metal an ethereal incandescence.
