2 .3 Qualifications of the operators
Persons handling or using an AWG Foam nozzle S2/M2 or S4/M4 must be
technically qualified and trained. They must be aware of all risks involved
in handling the device.
The foam nozzles may only be used by persons who have been trained
and instructed in the operation of the device in accordance with the coun-
try-specific fire service regulation (in Germany: FwDV) or corresponding
internal company regulations.
Different qualifications are required for personnel performing the different
types of activity.
Instructed personnel:
Transport / use / cleaning as well as "Basic" functional testing
Technical personnel:
Maintenance as well as "Standard" and "Advanced" functional testing
2 .4 Personal protective equipment
When using the AWG Foam nozzles, personal protective equipment must
be worn, in accordance with the country-specific fire service regulation
(e. g. in Germany: FwDV) or with internal company regulations, in action.
3 Description
3 .1 Function
With the AWG Foam nozzles S2/M2 and S4/M4 it is possible to produce
medium expansion foam or low expansion foam as required in accordance
with DIN EN 16712-3. The water components of the foam cool the fire
surface. The foam blanket prevents oxygen access to the burning material.
Preventive foaming protects fire-endangered materials against inflammation.
Adjustable foam nozzles consist of a nozzle head with a hand lever and
two concentrically arranged tubes. The interior tube is used to produce low
expansion foam, while the outer tube is used to produce medium expansion
foam. The foam agent/water mixture produced at a constant admixing
rate in the separate inductor is pressurised and reaches the nozzle body.
