Cleaning
Do not spray the appliance
with water and do not im-
merse it in water. Electric
shock hazard!
• Keep clean the ventilation slots, motor
housing and handles of the appliance.
Use a damp cloth or a brush. Do not
use cleaning agents or solvents. You
may otherwise irreparably damage the
appliance.
• After every trimming session, remove
grass and soil from the protective cover
and the trimming assembly.
• Be careful with the line cutter. It can
cause serious lacerations.
Winding up the spool
As an alternative to a new spool, you can
purchase a 2.4 mm-thick, 5 m-long nylon
thread in specialist shops and wind this
yourself onto the spool.
1. Pull the new line through both line out-
let loops (32) of the spool cap (15).
2. Make a longitudinal adjustment with
both ends of the line so that the spool
cap (15) is positioned at about the cen-
tre.
3. Turn the rotary knob (15a) in the direc-
tion of the arrow indicated on the bot-
tom of the spool cap (15) to wind the
line onto the spool (33).
General maintenance work
• Check the appliance before each use
for obvious defects such as loose, worn
or damaged parts.
• Check the covers and protective devic-
es for damage and correct fi t. Replace
these if necessary.
Check the line cutter (26). Never
use the device without a line cutter
or with a defective line cutter. If the line cut-
ter is damaged, be sure to contact one of
our customer service centres.
Removing blockages
Switch the device off and re-
move both batteries before
you work on the cutting unit.
Wear protective gloves in order to
avoid cutting yourself.
Transport
• When it is being transported, the de-
vice must be switched off and the bat-
teries removed.
• Carry the device with one hand on the
upper shaft tube and the other hand on
the lower shaft tube (3+6), in order to
avoid coming into contact with danger-
ous parts when transporting it (e.g. hot
engine, cutting unit).
• When transporting the blade, use the
transport protection.
• Maintain a safe distance from other
people when transporting the device.
Storage
• Store the trimmer in a dry place well
out of reach of children.
• Do not stand the trimmer on its protec-
tive cover. Suspend it by its upper han-
dle in such a manner that the protective
cover does not come into contact with
