Setting the water hardness

1. The appliance is in the Off state.
2. Hold down the start button for two cups
the On / Off button (4) flashes blue. The number of pulses corresponds to the
actual setting.
3. Push the same start button again
press the button
4. Press the On / Off button (4) once the correct water hardness is set. Only then
will it be saved!

Note: When setting the water hardness, do not pause for longer than 10 seconds,
Otherwise the appliance will switch off automatically and will retain the value
that was set originally.
You can check the setting at any time by carrying out the steps 1 and 2.

Descaling

Scaling indicator

Your appliance has an automatic scaling indicator that prompts you via blue
flashing of the On / Off button (4) to descale already after 4 to 10 weeks,
depending on the coffee consumption. You can continue to make coffee after
this time but you should not wait too long after the descaling is due to avoid
damaging the appliance.
To protect against too much lime scale, the appliance is pre-configured ex-works
for very hard water. Ask your local waterworks or local authorities about the
water hardness of your tap water. Change the setting when the water hardness is
less than 21°dH. You will not be asked to descale as often as before.

Descaling agent

Use a commercially available descaling agent that is suitable for coffee pad
machines, espresso machines of fully automatic coffee machines.
Do not use vinegar or vinegar concentrate, as this can damage materials in
the appliance.
The descaling with citric acid takes too long. A complete descaling can
therefore not be guaranteed.
Damage caused by the use of an unsuitable descaling agent or through non-
compliance with the descaling instructions is not covered by our warranty claim.
Handle the descaling agent carefully to ensure that no furniture or clothing
is damaged.
