i) Playback of an external audio source
The external audio source must be connected to the AUX IN (22) connector (see "Connection of
external playback devices").
• Press the AUX button (7) to select AUX operation.
• Begin playback at the connected device.
• The sound of the external audio source is then played back through the built-in loudspeakers.
j) Playback from a USB memory or an SD card
Do not connect an MP3 player with the USB interface (15) if it is powered by batteries. The
power supply of the USB interface (15) can charge the inserted batteries and subsequently lead
to overheating and may even cause an explosion of the batteries.
Only USB data carriers can be used at the USB interface (15). MP3 player with a USB connec-
tion automatically switches to the PC mode when plugging into this connection. Playing music is
not possible in this mode. You can, however, connect the MP3 player's audio output to the audio
adapter AUX IN (22) any time.
SD or SDHC cards with a maximum capacity of 8 GB are supported.
Media have to be formatted in FAT.
Due to the great variety of systems with USB and SD card interfaces and their different functions
that are sometimes producer-specific, we cannot guarantee that all media will be recognized
and that all the operational functions are available with this device.
In case the storage medium cannot be recognized, pull it out and plug it in again.
• Insert a USB data carrier into the USB interface (15) or an SD card onto the SD card reader (18).
Pay attention to the correct alignment of the data carrier. It fits into the respective interface only
in one way. The SD card must be inserted with the contacts pointing down.
• Select the desired operating mode with the CD/USB/SD button (2).
• The memory card or the USB data carrier are read automatically, then playback starts automatically.

• Press this button to interrupt playback briefly.
• When the button is pressed again, playback will begin at the point where it was interrupted before.

• Press this button to stop playback.
