4. Safety instructions

Damage due to failure to follow these operating instructions will void the warranty. We do not
assume any liability for any resulting damage.
We do not assume any liability for material and personal damage caused by improper use or
non-compliance with the safety instructions. In such cases, the warranty will be null and void.
Dear customer: Not only are the following safety notes and hazard warnings intended to protect
the device, they are also intended to protect your health. Please read the following points care-
fully:
• For safety reasons, any unauthorised conversion and/or modification to the product is not
permitted.
• The power adapter is constructed according to protection class II. Only a proper mains socket
(100-240 V/50/60 Hz) of the public grid may be used as voltage source.
• The retro record player may only be powered using the enclosed power adapter.
• This product is equipped with a laser (class 1). Do not open up the device and do not attempt
to reach any interior components. Never look directly into the laser beam. Laser radiation can
cause eye injuries.
• Extra care should be taken when using the device for the first time. Therefore, please follow
the operating instructions carefully.
• Make sure the power adapter cable is not pinched, bent, damaged by sharp edges or oth-
erwise subjected to mechanical strain. Avoid excess thermal stress on the power adapter
caused by excessive heat or cold. Do not modify the power adapter. Failure to adhere to these
instructions may lead to damage of the power adapter. A damaged power adapter can result
in a life-threatening electric shock.
• Do not touch the power adapter, if it is damaged. First, switch off the appropriate mains socket
(e.g. via the respective circuit-breaker and the RCD) and then carefully pull the power adapter
from the mains socket. Damaged power adapters must be replaced. Repairs are not accept-
able.
• To completely separate the device from the mains, you have to unplug the power adapter from
the mains socket. Simply turning the device off with the standby switch is not enough.
• This product is not a toy; it is not suitable for children. Children are not aware of the potential
dangers involved when using electrical devices.
• Do not pour liquids over electrical devices and never place objects filled with liquid on top of
them (e. g. vases). You run the high risk of causing a fire or a fatal electric shock. If this is the
case, de-energise the appropriate mains socket (e.g. switch off circuit breaker and RCD) and
then remove the power adapter from the mains socket. Disconnect all cables from the device.
The product must no longer be used after that; take it to a specialist workshop.
• Power adapters must never be plugged in or disconnected when your hands are wet.
• Ensure there is adequate ventilation for the device during operation. Do not cover ventilation
holes with magazines, table cloths, curtains etc.
• Do not expose the device to high temperatures, dripping or spray water, strong vibrations or
heavy mechanical stress.
• Do not place open sources of fire such as burning candles on the appliance.
