Number of scans

For measuring inhomogeneous samples such as
granules or structured surfaces such leather, it is
possible to increase the number of scans from which
the colour values are calculated.
Following scan values are
available; 1 (off ), 3, 5, 10,
15, 20. When selected an
average is automatically
calculated. Between each
scan the standard deviation is
displayed.
"Number of scans" is
located in the "Settings"
menu. The currently set value
is displayed. The default
setting is "1". Set the value
using the navigation keys.

Pass/Fail

With the function PASS/FAIL, the device displays an
easy to understand "Pass" or "Fail" result. The result
is dependent on the diff erence between the standard
and sample values, with limits for ∆E CIE L*a*b*or
CIE ∆L*, ∆a*, and ∆b*.

Number of scans
In the "Settings" menu select
"Pass/Fail" with "Center" key.
Select which "Pass/Fail" limits are
to be checked; ∆E or ∆L*, ∆a* and
∆b*.
To set the limits, select the menu
"Limits". Depending on the mode
a list of ±∆L, ±∆a and ±∆b values
or two ∆E limits are listed.
Three ∆E ranges can be defi ned
using the two ∆E limits. Pass, fail
or an intermediate ranges. Select
the limit value using the navigation
keys.
Alternatively limits for the L*,
a*, b* as a positive or negative
diff erences can be selected, to
defi ne the "Pass/Fail" result. The
limit values are displayed in the
results window.
