When treated within the first days and
weeks of life, regular dysplasia can
usually be healed within a few weeks.
Dysplasia stemming from a preceding
luxation, however, usually takes several
months of orthotic treatment to heal.
Constant and regular control examina-
tions (at first every 2 to 3 days) are as
much part of a good treatment plan as a
professionally fitted and correctly applied
orthosis. Therefore, the close cooperation
of physicians, technicians and parents is
indispensable for the patient's healthy
future.
Newborns and infants show a high
degree of strong, reflexive, pedalling leg
movements. Thus, children subconscious-
ly reject any form of restriction to their
mobility, and might show some resistance
against the splint until fully accustomed
to the new orthosis.

Flexion
Should a patient seem to cry out of pain
for an unusually long period of time,
remove the orthosis and go to see a
physician so the proper fit of the splint
and the stability of the joints can be
checked.
Children wearing the splint should prefe-
rably sleep on their backs.
Safety
• Before using this device an individual
adaptation of the orthosis and a
familiarisation in its use by an
experienced orthopaedic technician
according to the medical instructions
is essential.
• Incorrect selection, adaptation,
application and/or failure to monitor
the correct fit of this device can cause
health damages.
• Never wear the orthosis on bruised skin.
