Remove the battery cover and insert the batteries supplied.
Make sure the batteries are the right way round. If the batteries
are not inserted the right way round there will be no damage but
the unit cannot operate.
When you have inserted the batteries always fit the battery cover
(1) and press it on firmly.
After inserting the batteries the electronics circuitry is subjected to
an automatic test (the display flashes a number of times and when
the test has been completed successfully there are two beeps).
