7.1 Replacing the safety laser scanner without system plug

Hazard due to lack of effectiveness of the protective device
If an unsuitable configuration is saved in the system plug, it may cause the dangerous
state to not end in time.
After replacement, make sure the same system plug is used or the configuration is

restored.
Make sure that the safety laser scanner is aligned correctly after the replacement.

NOTICE
Enclosure rating IP65 only applies if the safety laser scanner is closed and the system
plug is mounted.
Mount the system plug.

Close the M12 plug connector on the safety laser scanner using a male cable
b
connector or a protective cap.
Tightening torque for plug connector: 0.4 Nm ... 0.6 Nm.

Tightening torque for protective caps: 0.6 Nm ... 0.7 Nm.
°
When mounting the connecting cable, ensure the seals are intact and seated
b
correctly.
NOTICE
If the system plug is mounted with excessive force, the contacts can break or bend.
Plug in the system plug carefully.

Do not force it.
b
Tool required:
• TX10 Torx wrench
• TX20 Torx wrench
1. Make sure that the environment is clean and free of dust and moisture (high air
humidity, fog, rain, hail, snow).
2. Unscrew screws in the system plug and remove the system plug from the defective
safety laser scanner.
3. Unscrew the fixing screws and remove the defective safety laser scanner.
4. Mount the system plug on the new safety laser scanner, see
system plug".
Make sure the desiccant bag is not pinched.
5. If the desiccant bag is damaged, contact SICK Service.
6. Mount the new safety laser scanner, see
directly".
7. Check the effectiveness of the protective device. For more information, see the
operating instructions.
