Erasing Recorded Tapes
Re-recording
a tape will automatically
erase the
previously recorded material.
Follow
the instructions
at right to erase a tape
without re-recording.

In order for the APSS to operate correctly, there
must
be a space
of at least 4-second
duration
between
each
item on the tape. In order to edit
space
(non-signal
space)
on
tapes,
follow
the
instructions below.

Protection Against Cassette Tape Erasure
Depress the PAUSE
If key during recording at
a point suitable for selection editing.
Slide the FUNCTION selector to the) /TAPE
position.
Connect the erasing plug {not supplied) to the
EXT MIC jack.
Depress the PAUSE
II key to release it.
After sufficient editing time (about 5 seconds)
has elapsed, depress the PAUSE
J] key.

3 Connect the erasing plug (not supplied) to the

Load a cassette-to
be erased into the cassette
compartment.
Slide the FUNCTION
selector to the ® /TAPE
position.

the RECORD ® key.
This will auto-
matically
engage
the PLAY

key and begin
erasing the tape.

Remove the erasing plug from its jack.

selector to the ON/RADIO

II key to release it and

begin recording of the next selection.

Perform steps 1—8 to edit spaces between selec-
tions so that the tape may be used for future
APSS operation.
Ali cassette tapes are provided with the tabs which,
when
in place, allow the tape erasure. If the tab (A
or B/1
or 2) is removed, the tape on the side in
which tab was removed cannot be erased.
{The RECORD @ key can not be depressed.)
The tape can be re-recorded or erased by covering
the tab holes with plastic tape.
