METER
ADJUSTMENT
1. Connect instruments as shown in Figure 8-1.
2. Turn off the Dolby NR switch. |
3. Load the unit with a normal
tape, and place it in record
mode.
Then adjust the record-level controls VR102 and
V R202 so that the electronic voltmeter reads 580mV.
4. Watching
the peak
level display
meter,
check
that the
segment OdB lights up with the input signal. If the segment
OdB
does
not
light up, perform
readjustment
following
Table 8-1.

PRESSURE
ADJUSTMENT
(See Figure 8-2)
1. Set the unit in the playback mode.
2. Press the tension
gauge
— which
is graduated
from 0 to
500g — onto part
of the pinch roller to let it leave the
capstan. Then return the tension gauge slowly and take its
reading when the pinch roller touches the capstan or begins
to rotate again. The reading should be 350 to 420 g.
3. If the reading is not within 350 to 420 g, adjust the pinch
|
roller by bending the pinch roller press spring or replace it.

TAPE
SPEED
ADJUSTMENT (See Figure 8-3)
1. Connect
the frequency
counter
to the unit as shown
in
Figure 8-3.
2. Load the unit with a test tape (TEAC MTT-111,
3 kHz-
recorded tape) and play its intermediate area.
|
3. Then adjust the variabie resistor inserting a high-frequency
adjustment bladed screwdriver through the adjustment hole
at the bottom of the motor so that the frequency counter
reads 2960 to 3000 Hz.
|
RECORD/PLAYBACK
HEAD AZIMUTH
ADJUSTMENT
1. Connect instruments as shown in Figure 8-4.
2. Set the tape selector switch at normal position.
3. Put a test tape (TEAC,
MTT-114,
10kHz, 250 pWb/mm,
—10 dB prerecorded) into the unit and play it.
4. Adjust the head azimuth adjusting screw so that the elec-
tronic voltmeter reading is maximal.
Note:
|
|
if a dual-trace
oscilloscope
is available, perform
the adjust-
ment so that the reading of the oscilloscope is maximal and
with
the
teast
phase/output
difference
between
channels.
After the work, check that the head azimuth adjusting screw
has been secured completely.
