General aspects
The pump 210.04 has been built for use in TUNZE automatic
skimmer 210/2 and 3110/2.
Safety instructions
-
This pump must not be operated without water.
-
Use the pump in an aquarium only. Outdoor operation is
prohibited.
-
Please check prior to initial operation whether the operating
voltage of the unit corresponds to the mains voltage.
-
Operation is permitted only with a residual-current-operated
circuit-breaker fitted, max. 30 mA.
-
Before handling in the aquarium, please make sure that all
electric units used have been disconnected from the mains.
-
Do not bend the mains cable and do not use to attach the
pump.
-
Do not repair damaged mains cable. Replace the pump
completely.
-
Temperature of the aquarium water: max. +35° Celsius (95°
F).
-
Keep these Instructions for use for later check-ups.
Setting the performance (Fig. 8)
The performance of the pump can be set between 200 and 600 l/
h as requested. If the pump is used in a TUNZE skimmer, always
set to maximum performance (600 l/h).
Adjustment
-
Higher performance: Turn the set ring clockwise (+).
-
Lower performance: Turn the set ring counter-clockwise (-).
Storage
If you want to store the pump for a longer period of time, it is
imperative that you clean it, otherwise there is a danger of blockage
caused by dried lime or mud.
Cleaning
Thoroughly clean the pump in regular intervals of about six to twelve
months. In case of unfavourable conditions, such as high lime
content or a lot of mud, shorter intervals may be necessary (about
three months).
Failure
(1)The pump does not operate.
(2) The pump stops in regular intervals
(approx. every 10 minutes) and runs
hot.
(3)The running noise is too loud.
(4)The pump has to be cleaned every
two to three months.
Disassembly of the pump
Pull the impeller housing off the motor housing by pressing the
grips - applying traction in the area of the pump output, and
then turning slightly.
Remove the impeller assembly from the motor housing.
Remove the bearing from the motor and the impeller housing.
In case of tight fit, use the drive shaft to press from the outside;
the bearings are identical -> no confusion possible !
Use a plastic brush to clean all parts thoroughly. In case of
hard incrustations, place in vinegar solution, and use water to
thoroughly rinse afterwards. Check all parts for wear and
damage; replace, if necessary.
Place both bearings on the ends of the steel axle of the impeller
assembly. Subsequently, fit in the motor block; hold a bit because
the magnetic rotor pulls itself into the correct position.
Place and press down the impeller housing parallel to the motor
block.
In re-assembly the upper bearing might be pushed too far out
of the motor block. In this case, push the bearing back.
Check the performance setting, and correct, if necessary.
Guarantee
Your TUNZE unit carries a guarantee of twelve months after the
date of purchase covering all material and workmanship defects.
Defective units should be returned well-packed, together with the
sales slip, to the retailer or the manufacturer.
Exclusion from guarantee
The guarantee does not cover any claims for compensation beyond
the unit itself. Any damage caused by incorrect handling, or any
technical modifications made by the purchaser, irrespective of their
nature, or any damage caused by the use of concentrated acids
and alkaline solutions or any kind of solvent, shall not be covered
under this guarantee.
Subject to technical modifications, especially those which furt-
her safety and technical progress.
Cause
(a)After a longer stop period, deposits
have „stuck up" the bearing sections of
the pump.
(b)Motor sections, such as bearings or
the motor block, are defective.
(a) The impeller is blocked by foreign
matter.
(b) The motor block is defective; the inner
thermostat is triggered; otherwise no
mechanical defect can be detected.
(a) Dirt particles have penetrated the
inside of the motor.
(b) Parts of the bearing have worn after a
longer period of operation.
(c) The upper bearing is not fit properly.
(a) Excessively high lime additions (salt
water) cause lime deposits on the
bearing parts.
Remedy
(a) Disassemble and clean the pump.
(b) Disassemble and clean the pump.
Check the parts or take them to a
repair service.
(a) Disassemble and clean the pump.
(b)Replace the motor block.

(c) Push back bearing (cf. Fig. 7).
(a) Reduce the lime additive or operate
the pump in a ten-litre bucket in about
four litres of water for about one hour.
Beforehand, add 20 ml (spirit glass) of
vinegar essence to the water. Avoid
splashes. Subsequently, thoroughly
rinse in tap water.
