Manual Tuning
With auto tuning, the VTR will automatically cycle
through all channel numbers and store them in
memory without operating the > and ()
buttons.
However, occasionally auto tuning may
store a vacant channel in memory if there
happened to be some of noise or a stray signal on
the channel. when the tuner was programmed.
Auto Tuning may also miss an active channet
because the signal is very weak or because the
channel happened to be off the air when the tuner
was programmed.
In these cases, use "Manual
Tuning" or "Eliminating Unwanted Preset
Stations" as follows.
And we recommend you to set the programme
numbers, ready for "ShowView" timer
programming after auto tuning. See "ShowView"
programming on page 30 and "ShowView" setup
on page 60.

Perform steps 1 to 3 on page 15.

Press the TV PROG button to select the desired
programme
number you want to preset.
Note: A programme number which has already
been preset does not flash.
Press and release button © or © to start
searching for a TV station broadcasting a signal.

Searches from low frequency to high

station that is broadcasting a signal, the
picture appears on the TV screen. If the
programme displayed is different from that
broadcast by the station to be preset, press the
button © or © again.
Notes:
+ Press the © button; stations are scanned in
the order VHF {2 — 12) —>+ UHF (21 — 69) —
CATV (S1 — $41) -
CATV (U1 — US); the
colon(:) appears when scanning CATV stations.
+ You don't need to perform this step when only
changing the programme number of a preset
channel.
Press button [> to store it in this programme
number when the picture from the station to be
Preset appears on the TV screen.
"~—" will be displayed and the sound will come
on. The programme number starts to flash in the
CHANNEL PRESET display.
Note:
if the picture appears a little noisy, you can
fine tune the signal by pressing the © or ©
button to get the best picture.
If you don't need to change the programme
number, press the © button again.
If you want
to change it, select with the TV PROG buttons or
number buttons, then press the
[> button,

Repeat steps 2 and 3 for other stations.
After having completed pre-tuning to all stations,
press the MENU
button. The VTR's display will
change from the channel indication to the clock
time indication, and the channel preset display
will disappear from the TV screen.
VHF(2-12), UHF(21-69) & CATV Stations Direct Preset
Press the number buttons on the remote control
handset instead of the procedure described in
step 2 of "Manual Tuning" to preset any required
VHF, UHF and CATV stations directly.
To preset channe! 07 in programme number 01,
for example, press the TV PROG button to display
the programme number " 2' " (in step 2) then
press @)
G) on the remote control handset.
Then performance steps 3 to 5.
When you preset CATV channel, press the
ENTER/CATV button first. For example, press the
ENTER/CATV button, then press @
@in this
order to preset CATV channel 18.
Eliminating Unwanted Preset Stations
MENU
You can rearrange the desired stations by
eliminating unwanted preset stations for
programme up/down tuning.
Press the MENU button, and then ©.
The VTR display changes to the channel preset
display such as that shown on the left, for
example.
Note:
If you connect with TV via 21 pin Scart
cable, press the VTR/TV button to turn the VIR
indicator on.
TV PROG
Press the TV PROG buttons until an unwanted
station is found.
Press (1).
The programme number flashes, indicating that
the station has been erased from memory.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 until all unwanted stations
have been erased.
After eliminating unwanted stations, press the
MENU button.
