Operating instructions
A) Connection to mains supply:
Before putting the unit into Operation, check whether the voltage selector (44) at the
rear of the unit is set for the proper line voltage. The unit is suitable for Connec
tion to AC mains only. Setting to another voltage is accomplished by means of a
screw driver or a suitable coin which should be turned until the mark points to the
respective mains voltage. The unit is set 220 volts in the factory. The mains fuse (43)
may by replaced by turning out the cap. Repeated blowing of properly sized and rated
fuses indicates a defect in the unit.
Underfusing may cause blowing of the fuses even though the unit is not defective.
Mended fuses or overfusing may cause severe damage to the unit which is not
covered by warranty.
The electrical value is impressed on the side of one of the two fuse caps.
B) Fuses:
The size of the mains fuse is
100-130 V = 6,3 " amps.1
220-240 V = 3,15 amps.J Slow
2 anode fuses = 0,63 amps slow
Fuse for transistors = 0.63 amps slow, 2 fuses for heating = 6,3 amps. slow (located
inside the unit)
Dimensions of all fuses: 5 x 2 0 mm
ATTENTION! Spare fuses are in a plastic bag (37)-at the rear wall of the unit.
C) Pilot lamps for suses:
It is the function of a fuse to protect a device from overloading and further greater
damage in the event one component part becomes defective. Blowing of a fuse is
frequently causd by a temporary mains voltage peak, in which case the unit will
operate perfectly alain when the fuse has been replaced. When several fuses are
installed, the defective ohne has to be found out. To facilitate this, 3 pilot lamps (42),
(40), and (39) are attached to the rear of the "GIGANT II" for optical indication. If a
fuse has become defective, the respective pilot lamp (42), (40) or (39) under the
fuse elements (43), (41), and (38) lights up. A precondition is that the unit is connected
to the wall socket and is switched on (on and standby button (4) and (3) depressed).
The earthir>g-contact-type line cord supplied with the "GIGANT II" should be plugged
into the mains supply socket (45). The specified protection against electric shock
hazard as well as the best possible freedom from humming is only secured when
plugging this cord line into a properly installed earthing-contact-type socket.
Depending on the local mains conditions, it may become necessary to change the
polarity of the power plug in Order to secure maximum freedom from humming
(unplug, turn, and plug in again).
In order to eliminate so-called hum pickups, care should be taken that the „GIGANT
II" unit and the echo/reverberation unit used are plugged into two sockets not placed
too far from each other. The use of earthing-contact-type multiple sockets is an
advantage in this respect.
