No signal
No signal
(digital input)
Level too low
(analog input)
Level too low
(digital input)
With the volume control on
the source set to maximum,
audio level is too low or
playback is distorted.
The volume level in the
room is too high, even
when the volume of the
source is set to a low level.
Loud hum
Soft hum
Soft noise
Playback not loud enough
(USB input)
No playback
(USB input)
Settings (volume adjust-
ment, subwoofer volume
adjustment etc.) are mis-
aligned.
Possible Cause
No mains connection
No input signal
Subwoofer is switched off via the re-
mote control.
A cable is plugged into the AUX input.
The output level from the source (pre-
amplifier, CD player) is too low.
Volume adjustment is active in the
digital domain of the source.
The volume setting on the active sub-
woofer is too low.
The volume setting on the active sub-
woofer is too high.
Faulty contacts in the signal connec-
tions (e.g. RCA connectors, adapters
for extensions).
Hum emitted from source component;
ground loop caused by RCA multi-
connectors.
Noise emitted from source.
Volume in control panel set too low.
Wrong output device selected.
The active subwoofer uses an internal
microprocessor. In certain situations, it
may be helpful to perform a system
reset, which restores all parameters to
their factory settings.
Remedy
Check plug, power outlet and power cord.
Check input connections; change RCA connector;
check source signal (does a different audio compo-
nent play correctly through the same connection?).
Switch on the subwoofer using the remote control.
The optical input can only be used if no plug is
plugged into the AUX input. Disconnect the plug
from the AUX input.
Check volume level at the source; increase source
output level.
Increase the volume of the source's digital output.
Reduce the level on the source component to
approx. 50%; turn up the volume of the active sub-
woofer until a comfortable level for the room is
reached.
Turn the volume of the active subwoofer to mini-
mum; turn up the level on the source to approx.
50%; now turn up the volume of the active sub-
woofer until a comfortable level for the room is
reached.
Check all connections; to protect against excessive
noise on the unit (buzzing, crackling, etc.) caused by
faulty connections, turn the volume of the active
subwoofer to a low setting; you may have to readjust
the outer diameter of the RCA plugs.
Check the active subwoofer for internal hum: switch
off the subwoofer; disconnect all input cables; switch
on again, restore normal settings. A soft hum should
now be audible when you place your ear close to the
speaker but not from the listening position.
Check the active subwoofer for internal noise: switch

should now be audible when you place your ear

tion.
There are several menus where the output volume
of the USB sound card can be adjusted (control
panel/audio devices, sound card driver, equalizer in
iTunes® or Winamp etc.). Make sure that an ade-
quate level is set in all of these.
Select the correct audio output device from your
computer's control panel/audio devices menu (ex-
ternal USB output device).
First disconnect all inputs. Press the MUTE button
on the remote control briefly four times in a row.
Then press and hold the LOUDNESS button until the
LED on the front of the subwoofer flashes briefly.
Now disconnect the low-voltage plug from the unit
and plug it in again. Your subwoofer is now reset to
the factory settings.
