Socket Fitting
Caution: The socket must be airtight in order to maintain suction
suspension when the sleeve is applied.
Caution: The proximal brim of the socket must be smooth and without
sharp edges that could damage the device.
USAGE
Donning
1. Turn the device inside out, halfway, with the inner surface of the distal
part half exposed.
2. Stretch the device over the brim of the socket and roll the distal end
completely down (Fig. 2).
3. Roll the upper part down until the socket brim is completely exposed.
4. Align the prosthesis and step into the socket.
5. Roll the device up with both hands. Do not pull on the edges as this
may place strain on the skin (Fig. 3).
The device should be put on with the knee bent slightly to avoid high
pressure on the patellar tendon.
At its proximal end, the device shall contact the intact skin directly to
obtain correct suspension performance.
Caution: Open wounds or damaged skin should be covered with
a bandage or other appropriate covering to prevent direct contact
between the wound and device.
Note: Do not apply lotion to the residual limb immediately before
donning the device. The residual limb should be clean and dry to prevent
device damage.
Cleaning and care
Daily cleaning of the residual limb is essential. Use of a mild, pH
balance, 100% fragrance- and dye-free liquid soap is recommended. If the
skin is dry, apply a pH balance, 100% fragrance- and dye-free lotion to
nourish and soften the skin.
Clean the device daily after use and before first use.
• Turn the device inside out.
• Wash with pH balanced, 100% fragrance- and dye-free liquid soap.
• After washing, rinse the device thoroughly with warm water and pat
dry on both sides with a lint-free cloth (Fig. 4).
• The device can also be machine washed (40°C) with a mild detergent
and at low spin speed. Fabric softeners, bleaches, and other
products/cleaning solutions may result in device damage and should
not be used.
• The device shall be dried overnight before reuse.
• Always return the device to its neutral state immediately after
cleaning. Do not store inside-out as device damage may result.
Caution: Skin health should be monitored daily. In case of abnormal
symptoms, discontinue use of the device and contact the healthcare
professional immediately.
Caution: Be aware that common household or bath products may cause
or contribute to skin irritation, e.g., soaps, deodorants, perfumes,
abrasive cleaners, aerosol- or alcohol sprays.
Caution: If device use results in excessive perspiration such that stability
or suspension are compromised, it is recommended to remove the
device and dry off both the device and the residual limb.
