1.6 Safety devices

The warning sign on the electric heat exchanger indicates there are risks due to the electric current.
The electric heat exchanger is equipped with a safety pressure limiter.
The safety pressure limiter serves as a low-water protection (see EWT 80-40 or -70).
If no contactor is installed at the factory, an external contactor is required to switch the heating rod
(e.g. Behncke ® control system for EWT 80-xx).
Control system with one contactor:
Control system with built-in second contactor for safety shutdown with pilot light (strongly recommended)
for EWT 80-41/-71 with control and safety thermostat:
– Switch box not included in the delivery! –
The safety devices switch off the electric heat exchanger when impermissible values are reached.
CAUTION!
The electric heat exchanger may be damaged.
The electric heat exchanger may only be put into operation if it is ensured that
the electric heat exchanger will be continuously supplied with water during
operation. The water flow rate must be at least 1000 I/h.
CAUTION!
The electric heat exchanger must be protected by at least two safety switches.
The following combinations are on offer ex works
- with a safety temperature limiter
- with a control thermostat and a safety temperature limiter (STL)
- with a control thermostat, a safety temperature limiter and a flow switch
- with a contactor up to 12 kW.
