6.2.2 Cleaning spark arrester and final filter
The spark arrester and the final filter can be cleaned in different
ways:
- in hot water (approx. 60°C) to which a detergent for domestic
use has been added. This treatment can be repeated several
times; or
- using a high-pressure cleaner; or
- if the saturation consists of dry dust particles: by compressed
air (operating pressure 500-600 kPa).
Clean the spark arrester and the final filter.
Let both filters dry thoroughly.
6.2.3 Cleaning ioniser and collector
The ioniser and the collector can be cleaned in different ways:
- in hot water (approx. 60°C) to which a solution of 2% EFC has
been added (preferred way); or
- using a high pressure cleaner
EFC is a detergent which has been specially developed
for cleaning electrostatic filter cells. It is available from
your supplier. Always follow the instructions on the
packaging and use a paint brush, especially for the
ioniser.
Clean the ioniser and the collector.
Let both filter sections dry thoroughly.
Check the ioniser for broken ionisation wires. Replace broken
wires.
Check the collector for bent lamellas. Straighten bent
lamellas carefully using a screwdriver.
6.2.4 Mounting the filfers
Mount the dismounted filters in reverse order.
