3.4 Doffing
• Remove the sealing cover, if fitted.
• Disconnect the compressed air supply tube from the control
valve.See below.
• Leave the polluted work area and take the equipment off.
Releasing the compressed air supply tube / breathing hose
Both couplings are of safety type and are released in two stages.
Fig 6.
• Push the coupling towards the nipple.
• Pull the locking ring back.
4. Maintenance
Personnel who are responsible for maintenance of the equipment
must be trained and well acquainted with this type of work.
4.1 Cleaning
Sundström cleaning wipe SR 5226 is recommended for daily care.
If the mask is heavily soiled, use a warm (up to +40 °C), mild soap
solution and a soft brush, followed by rinsing with clean water and
drying in air at room temperature. If necessary, spray the equip-
ment with 70 % ethanol or isopropanol solution for disinfection.
Proceed as follows:
• Remove the filter.
• Remove the covers for the exhalation valves and remove the
membranes.
• Remove the inhalation membrane.
• Remove the head harness.
• Clean as described above. Critical areas are the exhalation
membranes and the valve seats, which must have clean and
undamaged contact surfaces.
• Inspect all parts and replace with new parts as necessary.
• Leave the mask to dry, and then assemble it.
• Carry out tightness test as described in 3.3.
NOTE! Never use solvent for cleaning.
4.2 Storage
After cleaning, store the equipment in a dry and clean place at
room temperature. Avoid direct sunlight. The flow meter can be
turned inside out and be used as a storing bag.

4.3 Maintenance schedule

Recommended minimum requirements on maintenance routines
so you will be certain that the equipment will always be in usable
condition.

4.4 Spare parts

Always use genuine Sundström parts. Do not modify the
equipment. The use of non-genuine parts or modification of the
equipment may reduce the protective function and put at risk the
approvals received by the product.
4.4.1 To change the control valve
The control valve is a complete, sealed unit. Don't attempt to
repair or modify it.

4.4.2 To change the inhalation membranes
One membrane is in the centre of the inner mask on a fixed dowel.
• Prise off the membrane and fit a new membrane. Fig. 7.
4.4.3 To change the exhalation membranes
The exhalation membranes are mounted on a fixed dowel on
the inside of the valve covers. The covers should be changed
whenever the membranes are changed.
• Snap the valve covers off the valve seats. Fig. 8.
• Prise off the membrane. Fig. 9.
• Press the new membranes onto the dowels. Carefully check
that the membranes are in contact with the valve seats all
round.
• Press the valve covers into place. A clicking sound indicates
that the cover has snapped into place.
• Carry out leakage testing as described in 3.3.
4.4.4 To change the head harness
The head harness can be ordered as a spare part only as a
complete harness.
• Snap the strap holders of the head harness off the mask
strap mountings. Fig. 10.
• Check that the straps are not twisted and fit the new head
harness.
4.4.5 To change the breathing hose
• Cut off the hose clip with a pair of pincers and pull the hose
off. Fig. 11.
• Thread the hose clip and retaining clip (Fig. 1:1a) onto the new
hose. Connect to the mask and use a pair of pincers to nip the
hose clip. Fig. 12.
